Lot of features for such a reasonably priced phone.
I recently received the new UMIDIGI G100 phone and I have to say for a reasonably priced phone I am pleased with it. It arrived with a charged battery that allowed me to connect it to my older phone and easily transfer all my apps and contacts to it.I was able to easily set up and use all the security features of Screen lock, Face & Fingerprint Unlock. The large screen size allows to place several app shortcuts on each page.The camera quality is pretty good and for an amateur like me it simply acts as a point and shoot camera and takes nice clear pictures and even allows for panoramic photos.The screen display is very clear when watching videos and doesn’t seem to have any lag time. Checking my security cameras online with this phone allows me to see very clear images as seen in the screenshot of the street photo I’m sharing.The battery allows for a full day use and having a C-type cable makes for an easy connection when having to charge it. I’ve never had a phone with the NFC technology before and enjoy the benefit of not having to take out my credit card to make a payment in the stores.

The G100 is part of the G series of Umidigi phones. Usually they are the middle of the line in terms of specs compared to the A series, but this G100 is up there in terms of specs. The T615 processor is relatively new, and has good ratings online. The device comes with 6gbs of ram, but with memory extension, it doubles to 12gbs. Almost all Umidigi look the same with its blocky shape. The only difference physically compared to the A series is that there is no programmable button on the left side of the device.This phone comes with a 6.9” screen. My old Umidigi A15T has a 6.7”, and the difference between the two is not really noticeable. Dimension wise, this is fractionally larger all around.There isn’t much of an impact with how it is in the hand. It is still possible for one hand use, though two hands to stabilize it is still my preferred method.The 6.9” screen has a 1640×720 resolution, which would be a medium quality screen. But using this, it is perfectly fine. For gaming or using videos, it is perfectly serviceable.The screen features the standard Umidigi bezels and teardrop front camera. I am used to the teardrop, as all my previous phones have this, but it seems to interfere more than usual here. A lot of games that I play, that spot was blocking important information.The phone comes with Android 14. It was able to run all the apps I was previously using without any issues. With Umidigi’s, there likely won’t be upgrades to the version, but it would be a few years before there are any concerns with app compatibility.One major difference this has over other Umidigi devices is the camera placement. Whereas most older models have them on the sides, this is a giant circle in the middle of the device. It is quite pronounced. While it still won’t lay down flat, it is now more balanced and stable because the camera piece is no longer offset on the phone.The one thing though about the camera piece being this large and down the middle is that the index finger tends to rest on that piece while holding. It can lead to fingerprints all across that area.The device is fairly quick. I didn’t experience any major issues during my daily use. There were a few instances where I was playing video games that seemed to lag a little bit, but it was only for a few seconds and didn’t affect gameplay.Typically one of the weak spots of Umidigi’s are their cameras. At the back, the phone comes with a 50 mp main camera and macro camera. At the front is a 16 front camera. Under good lighting, the pictures are fairly good. It has good colours, though the contrast is a bit high. Under low lighting, the imagery does suffer. Even in night mode, there is a lot of noise in the photos and doesn’t look that great.One thing I would like, and this is an Android thing, is the ability to see all the apps in alphabetical order. Usually that can be accessed by scrolling up on the screen, but that feature seems to have disappeared. The different panes still show all the apps, but are just harder to locate.It may not be as well known as the mainstream brands, but for under $200, this phone offers everything you want from a smartphone. It has a large screen with good resolution and colours. It features the latest stock Android OS with no bloatware attached. There is a large battery that can last two days before charging. It has two sim card slots, where one can be used for a micro sd card. It has a large list of network bands, making this a great not just for Canada’s network, but also abroad. Very impressed with this device.Five stars.

I tested the Umidigi G100, and it performs quite well for its price range. The large display makes it enjoyable to watch videos and play games. The system runs smoothly, and the overall experience is great for daily use. • Outdoor Shots: The camera captures decent details. Although there is some haze and lack of sharpness in distant objects but it’s all within acceptable range. Photo sample attached. • Macro Mode: Close-up shots are surprisingly good, with sharp focus and a nice depth effect. Again there is some noice in the darker area but it’s just minor. Photo sample attached. • Battery Life & Performance: The phone’s battery lasts long, and general usage feels snappy and responsive.If you’re looking for a budget-friendly phone with good battery life, a large screen, and decent cameras, the Umidigi G100 is a solid choice. It’s more than enough for your daily use. After all, for $180 CAD, what else can beat it?

Great phone for the price but the Qi wireless charging doesn’t work. I’ll send it back for a replacement. The more I use this phone, the more I dislike it. When you pull the screen down you’ll see GIANT controls for brightness, BT, DND etcetera. It’s a huge waste of space. There’s nothing to adjust the icons. It’s poorly planned and an irrigation. I notice they changed the description and removed the “Qi supported” which is why I couldn’t use wireless charging.
