Worked great in my QIDI Plus 4 3d printer, plug and play
This is the second time I’ve purchased this model. The price is more, but it’s the reliability I’m after. Latest application was inside a Qidi Plus 4 3d printer to replace the little buggy USB wifi dongle. This was literally plug and play, I had to do nothing but plug it in and start the machine. Luckily there is a ton of space inside the back of the machine to place the cable and wifi device/antennas. The signal is strong, clear and does not drop. A+

Works as expected. Great performance for the price.
After reading many negative reviews I decided to try this anyway, because some people that write bad reviews just have other problems unrelated to the product. It worked immediately after plugging it in to Windows 10, but only connected at 2.4GHz at first. I use the same SSID for both bands, so the device can choose which band to use. I did see nearby 5GHz access points, so 5GHz was functional. I checked the advanced properties and didn’t see a way to force 2.4/5 GHz operation. At this point I took the CD that came with it and tossed it aside and then download the latest driver on https://www.tp-link.com/us/. There are two Win 10 drivers listed with the newest driver nearest the top of the list. The driver installed with no problems and the adapter connected to 5Ghz just fine after updating. My only real complaint is that the adapter base is not weighted enough. The USB cord is very nice, heavy gauge wire and unless you tweak it just right the adapter will tip in whatever direction the cord pulls it. I’m tempted to glue a magnet to the bottom or try to add weight somehow but I don’t want to interfere with the WiFi signals. Some of that blue adhesive putty you use to hang posters or secure knickknacks to your shelves would work to keep it secure too.The speed was many many times better than it was with my previous adapter which was a tplink n300, I went from about 20mbps to 330mbps. It claims to support 867mbps on 5GHz, but that is probably only under ideal conditions and very short range. The number of nearby networks also increased which tells me the range is much better than it was with the little dongle type adapter.Overall, for the price, this is a great adapter. I would buy it again.Oh and it doesn’t claim to support Linux, although that doesn’t always mean a product won’t work on Linux either now or in the future. I didn’t have a chance to test it with Linux yet so I can’t say for sure.

Easy Install
I plugged it in then the driver setup file came up. I did the install and was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Good purchase, no issues.

Works pretty well.
I would give this more of a 4.5 than just a 4. I bought this USB WiFi adapter for my little brother’s desktop PC at his house, and it’s been a great solution for connecting to a router that’s far away. The connection is strong, and the speed is much better than the other adapter he was using, even from a distance. He was having constant disconnects and very low internet speeds with the prior adapter and now he is able to game and use his pc just fine. The only issue is that, very rarely, it will disconnect and then reconnect on its own over and over but im not sure if thats more of a software issure rather than the hardware itself. Despite that minor hiccup, it works very well overall. For the price and performance, it’s definitely worth it!

Disconnects are too frequent, requiring driver reinstall to fix the issue
Bought this adapter since moving to my new house. My previous house was wired pretty heavily so I didn’t have to rely on wifi. I got this adapter in hopes that I wouldn’t have to cable much, since wifi works for all other devices in the house. At first everything seemed fine. I’ve used this adapter for my PC for ~4 months now, but over the last week, the disconnects started happening. When first connecting the device to my PC, it connects as a USB drive, and the install app for the driver is on the unit. This is actually pretty brilliant, since having to download a driver on a PC that doesn’t have a network card can be challenging, if not impossible, unless you have another PC handy. The install goes really quick and installs v2.0.2.0 of the driver. The PC that I installed this on is ~8 feet from the wifi router. Signal is good between the unit and the router…when it’s connected. The challenge I’ve had is that recently, the unit frequently just disappears from my devices. Occasionally, just unplugging and replugging the device gets it to show up and reconnect, but more often, I have to completely uninstall the driver, reboot my PC, reinstall the driver, then reconnect the adapter to my wifi.I’ve tried changing some adapter settings related to power management and that doesn’t seem to make any difference. I tried different driver versions from the TP-Link support site, and I get the same behavior. I was having an even odder issue where when i tried to do any kind of high-bandwidth usage, like transferring files, or using a remote desktop tool (TightVNC), that would cause the adapter to just disappear again. That seems to have stopped after multiple reinstalls, but the disconnects continue.I’ve read a number of posts in forums about having to change a number of different settings on my wifi router, but to be honest, I shouldn’t have to do that. I’ve got ~40 devices connected in my house, from smarthubs, to Amazon FireTV devices, to laptops and PCs, and a couple of Raspberry Pi units, and NONE of them required any changes on the router side.I’ve also seen some people compliment the “speed” of this device, but I’m not impressed. I have gigabit fiber internet, so I am not limited by bandwidth. Using other wireless devices in the house, I average ~400+Mbps download and ~330Mbps upload. The attached screenshot shows what I get when I run this with the TP-Link adapter. I ran the test several times just to make sure it wasn’t an issue with any single test and the results average right around this 231Mbps mark download. The upload speed is on par with the other devices, but the download speed is just horrible, by comparison. This is really secondary to the disconnect issue though. 230Mbps isn’t bad, in general, for most tasks, including streaming, so it’s just by comparison to other devices that the lack of throughput shows.Lesson learned and money wasted. Still haven’t decided whether to purchase another wireless adapter or to go ahead and just run the cable, but I wanted to make sure to warn others about the frequent disconnects. That has been a major pain in the butt. It’s quite possible that I just got a flaky unit, but just know that this is an issue.

Great Upgrade!
Decided to try to find a good WIFI adapter to replace a 4 year old adapter and came across this TP-Link adapter. The user manual is not detailed but followed the installation instructions. I did uninstall the previous adapter’s driver prior to installing. Installation was easy using a USB 3 port and I was immediately impressed with the performance increase. I checked the TP-Link website and downloaded the latest driver that updated with no problems. I am very impressed with this adapter, particularly at this price point. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade to WIFI 6 speeds.

I used this for a local remote connection between a laptop and computer and it’s been working fine. Good value for the price.
