Fun game
I love the remastering of this game! It brings the nostalgia without the prejudice and racism. Great graphics, imo. Lots of challenges and storyline to follow, so it is entertaining and variable in experience.

So much fun!
This revamp is so much fun! The sprite animations are cute the color pallet is great and there is a surprising amount of variety in things you can do. There are community features that keep you coming back and you can play the classic Oregon trail on all sorts of difficulty as well as other journeys. Having a blast. I am a little over 5 hours in and have completed my first Oregon trail travel.

The Oregon Trail Nintendo Switch
A Great Modern Take on a Classic JourneyThe Oregon Trail on Nintendo Switch is a fantastic reimagining of the classic educational game, blending nostalgia with modern enhancements. The game stays true to its roots, offering the familiar challenging trek across the American frontier, where players must carefully manage supplies, navigate unexpected dangers, and make tough decisions that impact their journey. One of the biggest improvements in this version is the presentation. The pixel-art style combined with dynamic animations brings the journey to life in a way that feels fresh yet faithful to the original. The soundtrack is beautifully composed, perfectly complementing the setting. The UI is clean and user-friendly, making it easy to track resources, health, and progress.Beyond visuals, the game adds depth to the storytelling by incorporating diverse perspectives, including Native American characters and narratives. This provides a more historically informed experience than previous versions. The game also features multiple difficulty levels, varied routes, and a wide selection of party members, adding replayability and allowing players to experience new challenges each time. However, there are a few drawbacks. The game’s pacing can sometimes feel slow, especially during long stretches where not much happens. While random events keep things unpredictable, some moments can feel unfair, such as sudden illnesses or accidents that wipe out a key party member with no way to prevent it. This can be frustrating, particularly in harder playthroughs. Additionally, while the updated visuals are charming, some fans of the original may wish for an option to switch to a more retro aesthetic.Overall, this is one of the best modern versions of The Oregon Trail, delivering a fun, engaging, and historically rich experience. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, this game is a great blend of strategy, survival, and storytelling. While it isn’t perfect, it’s a worthy update to a beloved classic. A solid 4-star experience!

Fun game but HARD
If you’re in for nostalgia, it brings some, but this game is far updated from the one most people remember from their school childhood. The game is fun, but death is often, and they tell you so. It still has that difficult Oregon Trail charm. They even have a few head nods to the old games in there. It is making for several hours of fun. This is the bonus edition, with a download code for the DLC.

Great Upgrades! A must buy!!!
This game is super nostalgic for my husband and myself! I had to pry myself away from it after playing it every night after work for hours! It’s just like the original game, but with better graphics and added upgrades! For your party, you add 4 people. You can use the names given to them or edit to your liking. For each person, they have different personalities so choose wisely. You can buy a wagon kit or customize your own for the amount of money you start out with. There are many stops and options along the way to each fort. You can hunt and fish (my favorite)! There are challenges and quests along your journey. It’s definitely a memory/thinking game. The further you go, the harder it gets! I absolutely love this game and can’t wait for the colder months when we’re inside all the time so my family and I can play more! Definitely worth it and a must buy!!!

Great Upgrade to a Classic Game
I used to love playing Oregon Trail when I was younger and was so excited for this game for my Switch, and it didn’t disappoint. This game is so much fun and they graphics are a huge improvement over the classic version (obviously expected due to the years since it was made) but still not so realistic that it takes away from the memory of the classic. If you’ve ever played Oregon Trail in any other fashion then you need to play this one too.

I played this game as a child in school and absolutely loved it so when I saw they made it for the switch I bought it. Is it the most exciting game I’ve ever played? No, but I enjoyed it part and partial because of nostalgia so if you liked the game as a child, you’ll like it as an adult. My 12 yo kid, however thought it was boring which I mean it kind of is but I still enjoyed it!!

Even though this is a 1 player game, when you change the character names to those in your family, everyone gathers around to play, making decisions together to see what happens next, laugh at the sibling with dysentry, or hopping around after a successful hunt.As basic as the game is, it is rather addicting and great fun.

I bought this with much excitement, but I’m not an online gamer, nor a person who likes to create online accounts. (More annoying emails than I need or care for.)This game forces you to place an online Nintendo account and will not start up unless you have a Nintendo account. I do not have one, nor do I want to create one. So, it wont even open up to the menu screen of the game.If you’re like me, dont waste your money. Every other game I’ve bought so far allows you to plug and play immediately after the game downloads.Super disappointed cause the game looked like it might be fun.
