The golden age of video rentals is back! Introducing a brand new fun family game for anyone that has ever seen a movie – and just like all great blockbusters, this one’s a double bill! This is a game for adults and teenagers alike, but for best results, you’ll want to split up into two mixed teams. In round one, each team will choose one of their members to go head-to-head in a quick-fire buzzer battle. From ‘Famous trilogies to ‘Movies with a zombie in it’, these two players must think quick, shout out a movie and slap the buzzer to put pressure on their opponent. The first player to run out of ideas loses the round (and gives their opponents a serious advantage in round two). We like to call round two ‘Movie charades with a twist’. The player that won the buzzer battle picks up six movie cards, gives the hardest three to their opponent and keeps the rest for themselves. When ready, they’ll get 30 seconds to get their team to shout out the movies by using three tricky techniques – acting out the film, making up a quote and describing them with just one word. Get them right quick enough and you’ll have a chance to steal from your opponents. Take it too slow and they might get a chance to steal from you. It’s an all-out race to collect a film from every genre and be crowned the new Blockbuster big-shots. With 200 classic movies, 60 category cards and a replica of a Blockbuster parking lot, you’ll want to clear a space on your top 10 family party games – this is one that’s sure to bring the entertainment home again and again. Blast from the past!
I recently bought The Blockbuster Game: A Movie Party Game, and while we haven’t had the chance to play it yet, it looks like a lot of fun! The packaging is super nostalgic, designed like an old Blockbuster VHS case, which is a great touch. From what I can tell, the game seems perfect for movie lovers, and I love that it now includes video games and TV shows as well. It looks like a great mix of trivia and charades-style challenges that will make for a hilarious game night with family and friends.I’m really looking forward to trying it out soon—I have a feeling it’s going to be a hit! If you love pop culture and party games, this seems like a great addition to any game collection.

Cool nostalgic game idea
Definitely hits the nostalgia vibe with Blockbuster video. I found it a little confusing, but enjoyable. Good game / gift for a movie buff. Love the container being VHS themed.

Very fun game!
I got the original (just movies) version as a holiday gift several years ago, and have really enjoyed it each time we played it.This version is just as fun, but as noted in the listing, it includes TV shows and video games as well.Those that are strictly movie buffs may not prefer this version, but with the additional categories it makes the game more widely appealing, and maybe more people with play with you if they have a better chance of winning, haha.It’s a great nostalgic game for anyone who frequented video rental spots back in the day.

Anyone miss Blockbuster?
The nostalgia of this is what made me want this game. While it’s neatly packed and in theory sounds like it would be fun, its honestly just confusing af. It’s fun for a one time play, but other than that, not really worth it.

Be kind, rewind
This game was a nice addition to our collection. We have a group of friends who get together for game night and most of us had jobs at Blockbuster in our youth so I thought it would be fun to reminisce. Granted I usually don’t enjoy charades, but playing with a group of good friends that had worked there made the game hilarious and fun was had by all! Like others have mentioned, the nostalgia factor is a huge selling point for this game, but if you love movies and games just get this.

My husband is a movie buff, so I figured he’d love this game for our next family night. The game itself is well made. It comes in a cute Blockbuster video case, and inside is the game board, cards, timer, etc. You have to use your phone for the buzzer unless you have something else that will work. You must have at least four players, and it’s a team game. It has different categories of movies (e.g., comedies, thrillers) plus TV shows and video games, and there are different rounds of play (one word, quote it, and act it out). The only drawback to me is that we can probably only play this two or three times before we go through all the cards, but even two or three nights of fun is worth $15. That’s way cheaper than going out somewhere, and we’re spending time together.

The cards are great for charades. Haven’t played the game proper yet. Worth the price.
I’m sure this game is fun but we may never choose to play it properly because we played charades with the cards first and it is just too damn fun. Worth the money.If the manufacturer is listening/reading, release a “movie night” charades edition/version and throw a bit of cash into marketing it, you may have a viral sensation on your hands worthy of the Blockbuster moniker.
