Excellent Buy, Considering Getting a 2nd
Product was exactly as described – I bought this with my 8 year old and 6 year old in mind and it will be perfect, in the meantime I am having a great time with it. I know there is some discussion about this vs the 35xx , so far only having this one I am very happy and not in a hurry to make any changes. I hadn’t remembered the additional back R and L buttons and feel like this opens up even more gaming possibilities! The console itself feels very solid and im not worried about the kids handling it and it breaking easily.

I like to do “first impressions” style reviews.I like to review something from the perspective of someone who just opened up the device and started to play with it.With that being said, I happen to know that this device, when updated to the latest firmware from Anbernic, makes this an awesome device and that’s not even to mention some of the really cool 3rd party custom firmware options that are out there for it (like Knulli).This device can handle anything from the original Atari systems all the way through PS1 (with upscaling) without a sweat. It can also handle a lot of Dreamcast, N64 and even Sega Saturn (my favorite). It won’t handle off of those last systems I mentioned, but it can handle a lot.Of course the star of the show is….GBA. This this is a PERFECT replica of an authentic GBA handheld and the screen dimensions and resolution are PIXEL PERFECT for replicating the GBA. On top of that, Anbernic has pre-selected the best looking filter to make the screen a replica an original GBA screen when playing those game ROMs. Not only is the device physically amazing, but the screen is too.You need to know this BEFORE purchasing: THERE ARE NO (RHYMES WITH PRETENDO) GAMES PRE-LOADED ON THIS DEVICE! Why? Well the BIG “N” likes to sue people who are trying to play games from their childhoods that have no other way to access those games regardless of the fact that it doesn’t affect them in the slightest.The following statment is true for ALL of these retro handheld devices: You need to know how to use the internet and watch youtube videos to learn how to operate these devices to their FULLEST and how to load your own ROMs. The fact that these come loaded with any games is a bit of a gray area to be honest, so I’m sure one day they won’t be shipping with any ROMs on them and you’ll need to know how to get your own anyways. Don’t leave a bad review because a game (you didn’t pay for BTW) isn’t pre-loaded on the device. Technically it shouldn’t have any ROMs on it and you need to know what you’re doing to even enjoy these types of items.As is the case with most Anbernic handhelds, it’s built very well. Feels solid in the hand. There’s no “rattling” of the buttons when you shake it.I have one of these in each of the colors that are currently available and they’re all great!As a final reminder:1. Update the device to the latest firmware from Anbernic (if you’re not going with a 3rd party firmware)2. Use your own branded SD card for th SD2 slot and gather your own ROMs3. Watch all of the videos on youtube that you can find and you’ll thank yourself later and enjoy the device more

Everything I need in a handheld
It has been years since I owned a handheld gaming system, and in fact most of them were purchased for my kids, so I hardly got to play anyway. This system is a dead ringer for the Gameboy Advance I bought my daughter for Christmas more than twenty years ago, and I’m a sucker for nostalgia.While there were no preinstalled games, there was a second TF card included in the box with hundreds (maybe thousands) of ROMs ready to play. All I had to do was insert the TF card into the second card slot and all the games were immediately available. The variety of games is unbelievable… Everything from arcade classics to console best sellers, and they all look amazing.The only issues I experienced were that my eyes aren’t as good as the once were and my hands aren’t quite as agile as they used to be. But as far as this game system goes, I have no complaints. This is easily one of the best gaming systems I’ve ever owned and I’m absolutely thrilled with it. Highly recommended.

Really great handheld
This is an awesome experience. It feels like a chunky Gameboy advanced and it’s so good. Tons of games to choose from. All that I have tested play well. Game saves available. The color is sharp and build quality is really really good. Buttons feel great. Several hrs of gameplay without issue. OS is very simple and easy to use. Look pretty good too. USBC charging with hdmi output. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a premium retro gaming experience.
