Works good. Not too flimsy. Video output looks really good. Pretty sturdy controllers too. Loved the original controller inputs for sega, nes and snes. Worth the 80 bucks

I love this
I had a SNES from my first job in high school and I went to hook it back up, only to find out (through a repair shop) it no longer works. I was bummed but wasn’t sure what to do. A friend sent me several recommendation for consoles that play retro games. I decided on this one and I love it! I’ve only hooked up SNES games to it (I don’t yet own any NES or Sega games). Hooking it up was pretty easy. It’s a little tough to get the games out when you want to change, you really have to pull HARD. Would have been nice to have an eject button like the SNES. But definitely recommend this as a replacement to your original gaming systems.

Plays everything even famicom
Plays pretty much everything, even jap snes. Good compatibility, decent picture, and worked out of the box. Janky controllers though and it looses points for being super stiff on the carts.

The Negative Reviews are Accurate
This in no way reflects on Amazon, but is a warning to anyone considering this Retro-Bit console: The negative reviews on all the purchase categories for the variations of the Super Retro Trio Plus are accurate. My purchase was defective right out of the box — the Super Nintendo portion would not play cartridges, at all. And also noted was that the slot for the cartridges was tight enough to damage them. The odd thing, also, was that I tried to plug in one of Retro-Bit’s accessories, the Super Retro Advance player, to see if Gameboy Advance games would play…But their own accessory for their own game system would not even fit the slot!!! That’s how narrow and tight (“the death grip”) was, especially considering the adapter is smaller than a standard US game cartridge. Lastly, the complaints of the system and controllers being flimsy, light, and cheap, was true, as well. The negative reviews are accurate, I returned the product to Amazon, who were easy and professional with the process, and I cannot recommend this gaming system. As a side note, I have heard similar complaints of Retro-Bit’s other products, games, and accessories, and can only pass those warnings along to the rest of you, as I wish I had taken them more seriously. Don’t let the low price fool you, as it is obvious of the lack of quality control.

Beware SNES Audio
Plays almost all my carts and they look good on my HDTV. But please beware that the audio for SNES games is REALLY bad. Like, almost unplayable for several games, especially when you use the Super Game Boy. I had read online that the SNES audio wasn’t great but I wish someone had really laid out just how bad it sounds. Very disappointed in that aspect. Everything else works pretty well though. Sorry to beat a dead horse, but just once more – SNES audio is almost unplayable for several games, especially trying to play with a Super Game Boy.

While I was expecting it to function I had been worried about the often times (with other retro systems including this one) the complaint of the SNES audio coming out odd. That has not been the case for this unit. The versatility to play all my classic cartridges from when I was a kid has been a blast (plus some games I’ve been able to pick up since buying the console). The ability to play the NES side of stuff with my snes controller with the flip of a switch has been a godsend since I haven’t had my NES console/controllers for years. I’ve loved everything about this console and recommend it highly.

[Update from about 4 months later and have not had such good luck as I did at the start with PAL SNES cartridges – receiving an error on many as not being the right region so clearly I was lucky initially with the PAL SNES games I tried in it – now a bit disappointed so dropped it to 3 stars. Still has its merits but think I will probably sell it onwards and try something else][Original review below]As I am in Australia and purchased this from Amazon USA I was a bit nervous whether it would be too NTSC focused but thankfully it seems to play all PAL cartridges I have thrown at it so far without any problem. Mostly using this for SNES so far and, although there are a few minor sound and graphical glitches here and there, for the most part this is perfect for what I needed. Much prefer to just quickly test cartridges on this rather than having to get my original hardware out.I had also seen a few reviews with complaints about the 16:9 output and the need to change the screen ratio via your TV if you had a TV that could do so. Thankfully the unit shipped from Amazon to me, despite the photos showing to the contrary, seems to be a later hardware revision and comes with a handy 4:3 / 16:9 switch.Pros:– Easy plug and play by HDMI rather than faffing with original hardware outputs.- Nice sharp visuals- 4:3 / 16:9 switch- Ability to use original joysticks (though I must admit I haven’t tried yet as controllers included are pretty damn good)- 3 systems for less than AU$50 each! Bargain!- Seems to also work fine with flash carts, at least it does with my SNES and Megadrive cheap Aliexpress knock off cartridges. I don’t have a NES one to test it with.Cons:- Probably running things at NTSC 60 rather than PAL 50 and I’m sure die hards would complain speeds might be a frame or two incorrect but as a casual user who just wants to use it to play and test old cartridges I couldn’t really care less and don’t really notice.- A few minor graphic glitches noticed that would make purists rage but again, not enough to spoil the fun- Audio seemed a bit off in a couple of games and again die hard purists would be upset more than IConclusion:Great little system for being able to easily test cartridges on modern TVs without the hassle of unboxing and setting up your old hardware.Purists may hate it and I agree, nothing is quite the same as playing on original hardware, but for what it is, it does the job and doesn’t break the bank. Don’t expect perfection, you are not going to get it for this price, but what you do get I was very happy with.
