What’s not to like
The Potensic Atom 2 is one honey of a mini drone. It is one of my most stable drones in the air, rock steady. This drone video competes well with the DJI Mini 4k and Specta Mini, but it is a full feature drone. At current pricing it is a great value. Perfect for new pilots. What is also nice is that the older Potensic Atom batteries work with the Atom 2, a cost savings if you own the Atom. I flew the Atom 2 in 25+ winds with a temperature of 20 degrees F. with no issues. The original Atom has waypoints, the Atom 2 does not, but I expect to see waypoints for the Atom 2 in a future firmware update. The Atom 2 claims to have Remote ID, but that drone isn’t yet listed as being FAA compliant on the FAA website. Pt 107 pilots will still need to use an approved RID module with the Atom 2. The Atom 2 controller is larger and heavier than the Atom controller. I personally like the smalller and lighter Atom controller.Bottom line: You can’t go wrong buying the Potensic Atom 2 at current prices.Edit 02/27/25: There is one issue I had with registering the Atom 2 with Potensic. You must register the Atom 2 or it can’t be flown. The issue I had was that Potensic was supposed to send a validation code to your email address to continue registration. One needed to enter that code in a minute or so, but it took sometimes an hour for the validation code to appear in my email inbox. My solution was to set up an account with Potensic on their official website. IMO Potensic needs to stop acting like the Atom 2 is a DJI enterprise drone and just let people fly their Atom 2 like they did with the original Atom.

First drone, happy after the first flight
This is my first “real” drone. Got it yesterday, went through the relatively quick calibration and setup and got it airborne on a 25 degree day with light wind. Hovered nicely, smooth response to control inputs. Brought it up to 125 feet and took some quick pictures in auto mode as the sun was setting. Attached is a “wide angle” panorama. Camera seems good for the price, although more testing needed. I’m hopeful the P-log recording and waypoints get enabled soon as they are two of the killer features at this price point.I didn’t have a chance to experiment with any of the tracking features. I’ll update when I can.Real time feed on the phone during the flight was crisp and showed minimal delay.Overall I’m very happy with it after the maiden flight.

This is tough…
The drone is great, very much worth all the attention it gets at this price. But let me tell you what I don’t like before I tell you what I do like.Potensic now requires you to associate an email address and account info directly to the drone itself. It always broadcasts it’s ID information when turned on, and you cannot stop that. They have added geo-fencing, and won’t let you fly very far if you don’t register, and at that you can’t use the drone more than a few days if you don’t register. I don’t know if the government made them do it, but this wasn’t the case at all with the ATOM. They don’t even tell you they require this before you purchase it. They make you give them permission to pull the drone data at their will also.So, for now, it’s a three star review at best. But what about the rest of the flying experience?The drone is awesome. More stable in flight than the ATOM, much better camera, and a vastly improved remote control that is fabulous to use, has better control features, and feels sturdier. This drone has new, quieter propellers (by a little), far more camera functionality including multiple panorama options, and still great battery life. Distance is superior… Not 10km, but I got over 2 miles away before it started having issues with communication.The bag is disappointing, once you’ve had the old bag. The older ATOM bag has pockets on the outside, a handle on top of the bag, and a padded shoulder strap. The new bag does not have those, but is otherwise functionally similar.The batteries are the exact same. The charging dock is too. The propellers are updated, and not interchangable. They offer a protection plan, and if you’re going to crash a few times or fly in the rain, it’s worth it probably. But on the other hand, if you pay attention to where you’re flying, it’s unlikely you’ll crash. There is a deductible required with each drone replacement as well. I’ll keep the money and see what other drones/updates hit the market in the meantime.I love the drone and it’s capabilities. I just wish they would remove the hokey registration and geo-fencing limitations.

Amazing Tech – Amazing Customer Service
Shamed they don’t make more stars, because this company is full of them. Every aspect of dealing with them has been professional competent & better. The new Potensic Eve App is amazing! Customer service through a basic message system on the app in online customer service & they solved a major issue for me via text & video. Took them under an hour from the time I initiated the request to have it fully resolved. In my experience, it’s been a DJI world & then everybody else, watch out , this company is coming. LOVE This little guy, he’s got attitude, it’s fast, nimble, and confident. A little wind does not bother him at all. He just gets louder & yells at it. Wild little thing!!Amazing Mini-Drone. This drone has features found in many way more expensive drones. Love that it doesn’t require calibrating every time it takes off or lands AND the batteries support hot-swapping from the drone to the parallel charger. It’s deadly accurate on RTH, never misses the landing pad. The camera is awesome! Flying this in sport mode, with the camera in FPV mode, is a truly immersive experience All in All, this is an everyday go to camera drone that you can trust.

This is an Awesome Product From Potensic. I have the Atom 1 and Love it, but the Potensic Atom 2 Takes drone flying to a whole other level of customer Satisfaction. I Highly Recommend this drone for the flying enthusiast,They also offer Potensic care upon activation and That is a Major Plus.

My Atom2 has just arrived! And it’s blowing a gale and lashing down as per typical NW UK weather…First observations:👀 • Aesthetically, there isn’t much difference between the Atom and the Atom 2💼 • The bag is quite tidy, more compact and a fixed shoulder strap as opposed to the removable one as before.🔋• Atom batteries are weighing in at 83.52g whereas Atom2 are 85.44g⚖️ • Atom weighs in at 162.1g Vs the Atom 2 at 160.89g🎮 • The controller is HUGE – Atom controller weighs in at 248g whereas the Atom2 controller is double this almost at 423.8g – I think it has neck strap connectors on the bottom – I can see myself investing in one.It’s charging as we speak and I’ve downloaded the new app – which looks quite tidy..Will revisit to adjust stars if need be!!
