Extremely buggy & multiplayer within the same household requires multiple consoles + accounts
The core gameplay is pretty fun, but Microsoft really didn’t deliver a polished experience at launch and gave up supporting it. Unless you already have access to this game via one a Microsoft subscription, I can’t recommend it – especially if you plan to play multiplayer.In order to play multiplayer in my household, I needed a Microsoft & Nintendo subscription, 2 different consoles (in my case a Switch & an Xbox One), and the game for both the Switch & the Xbox. You need to sign in with different Microsoft accounts on each console, and for the Switch this seemed to require resigning and authenticating every time we played the game – these signs in often failed to connect, and we’d restart the process. I wasted so much time with various sign ins. Once you actually manage to connect on the same game, we mostly enjoyed the experience but we often encountered bugs – including quite a few instances where the game just failed to render and we’d have to shut down and start the whole process again. I really don’t know how they could have thought this game was ready to be released to the public. It really felt like a waste of time and money.
