Excellent port of two very unique first person shooters
At the time of writing this short review, I just finished Metro 2033 – somewhere right at around 10 hours of playtime.I had played some of this game not long after the original version had released but recall getting stuck early on and giving up on it. Flash forward to 2020 and the improvements and additional gameplay options provided in the Redux package have breathed new life into these games for me. The ability to play in “Spartan” mode is what made vs broke this game experience for me. I’m not generally into meticulous, painful survival horror games – so being able to play through this first title with more ammo (more akin to a traditional shooter) was a must. The Metro games are heavy in atmosphere, immersive, depressing-yet-hopeful, and always tinged with a feeling of dread. While mostly linear per each progressing chapter, I found there were always secret areas in each small sandbox area to find if I searched hard enough. This always leads to an extra sense of reward for going off the beaten path. The gunplay and other actions all carry a unique weightiness to them. I grew to really appreciate the motions of wiping water or blood off of my visor, recharging flashlight batteries, reloading and firing my weapons, and crafting them to fit my play style. The flow of the game and breaking of chapters is done mostly well in my opinion. Enough to keep the pacing feeling quick while providing some momentary respite in some non-threatening NPC centers. I was consistently engaged and interested in the story, liked the lead protagonist and several comrades throughout, and easily immersed in this dark world. Very well done. While I can’t speak to Last Light yet (hope to start it soon), I can easily say that 2033’s port to the Switch was/is fantastic. The quality of graphics and FPS of the game was consistent and extremely impressive for being scaled down to fit and run on the Switch’s hardware. I had no graphical issues or frame drops throughout my 10ish hours of playtime. The work that the dev team put into this port is astonishing and I’m so glad they did it themselves. Easily one of the most impressive ports I’ve seen on the system so far (among Divinity Original Sin 2 and The Witcher 3).All in all, you are getting two excellent, atmospheric, immersive, gritty, pulse pounding first person shooters in this package. On top of that, it says the 10 hour DLC to Last Light is always included. That’s an amazing deal! Additionally, you have the options to play Survival or Spartan, depending on your preference, because it is the Redux versions. AND it’s ALL on the cart. No extra downloads required. That’s a HUGE plus in my book. Lastly, the game is already discounted on Amazon – and at around $40 this is an absolute steal.Couldn’t recommend enough.

Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Fantastic graphics and stable frame rate even in handheld mode.
Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Fantastic graphics and stable frame rate even in handheld mode. Motion control helps a lot with aiming.Cons: The game is too dark although the graphics is great. It is a little bit hard to play and a lot of stressed situations even on Normal level although it is very linear. Wanted to quit it a few times because of this. Vibration is not HD and I recommend to disable it in the start of the game.Metro Last Light Redux has more stealth possibilities and locations to use it if compare with 2033. More interesting places, tasks and stories then 2033. It is definitely a leap forward comparing with 2033.Took around 30 hours for me to finish two games with some additional locations exploration.Levels load time is ok. Got a few bugs in the game like stucked in the wall or dropped off of the game with some error message from Switch. The game will take ZERO additional space on your device if you bought a physical copy which is great as a lot of games like Assassin’s Creed or Bioshock will download additional 5-10 GB of content. Great value.

Fun game
Game is fun and the price was great! The system is just not like an X-Box or PS but still fun to play AND you can play it on a handheld device!Recommend as a shooter though not even half through it right now.

Metro Redux – Nintendo Switch
Metro Redux for the Nintendo Switch successfully ports the atmospheric and immersive world of the Metro series to the handheld console, delivering a gripping experience for players on the go. This compilation includes both “Metro 2033” and “Metro: Last Light,” remastered and optimized for the Switch hardware. One of the most commendable aspects of “Metro Redux” on Switch is its ability to maintain the haunting atmosphere and tense gameplay that the series is known for. From the dimly lit tunnels of the Moscow Metro to the perilous surface world, the game’s visuals and sound design work together to create a sense of dread and immersion that draws players into its post-apocalyptic setting. The narrative depth of both games remains intact, offering players a richly developed world filled with intriguing characters and moral dilemmas. Whether navigating through the dangers of mutant-infested tunnels or interacting with the various factions that inhabit the Metro, players will find themselves deeply engrossed in the stories of Artyom and his fellow survivors. In terms of gameplay, “Metro Redux” offers a blend of survival horror, stealth, and action elements that keep the experience engaging throughout. Players must scavenge for resources, manage their inventory, and make strategic decisions about when to engage enemies or avoid confrontation altogether. The Switch’s Joy-Con controllers provide responsive input, allowing for smooth aiming and movement, although some players may prefer to play with a Pro Controller for a more traditional console experience. While the Switch version of “Metro Redux” does experience occasional performance dips, such as frame rate fluctuations during intense combat sequences, these issues are relatively minor and do not significantly detract from the overall experience. Additionally, the convenience of being able to play the game in handheld mode more than makes up for any technical shortcomings. In conclusion, “Metro Redux” on Nintendo Switch offers a compelling and immersive gaming experience that will satisfy both fans of the series and newcomers alike. With its captivating storytelling, tense gameplay, and atmospheric presentation, this compilation stands as a worthy addition to any Switch owner’s library, providing hours of thrilling entertainment both at home and on the go.

Hands down …this is the best game I would recommend to a first time nintendo switch user and the game play ,graphics and storyline are mesmerising you would not be able to find more games like this. Perfects fps game and it also comes with the physical card …So I would recommend to go with games having physical cards because purchasing games from shop is a hassle

Brilliant pricing, arrived ahead of schedule. No complaints. Plus it came from overseas. This is how it should be done.
