BEST SPEAKERS
I used these old 2004 speakers for my PC and I was looking for an affordable upgrade so I looked everywhere for a good deal I couldn’t find anything but then I found these gems. The base is VERY POWERFUL almost as good and maybe even better than the 1000-watt movie theater blueray system I have downstairs, it goes deep and has a custom dial to turn it up and down. Sometimes it can sound messy but it is honestly AMAZING for $115. The mids are full unlike other speakers I tried, and the highs are good but sometimes are a little lacking compared to the other stuff but like everything else it’s AMAZING for the price. I agree with the comments that say it’s absolutely perfect for gaming and movies but only just good for music it’s not the best out there but for 115 wow it’s worth it, especially if you like the base in music like I do. I also saw a few people having issues with the speakers over time because apparently the components inside a little cheaper due to the age (10y+) but I pray nothing happens and these speakers stay amazing. 10/10 recommend

Good.
The sound starts to distort pretty hard when you crank the volume (80+%), but these are loud enough and very clean if you keep it below 70-ish% volume, which is absolutely plenty unless you’re using these for a TV. (I maybe hit 30% with them on my computer, and I have no need to go louder)Subwoofer is spectacular, no complaints there.Klipsch is a big name for a reason, these are really good for the price. Great sound quality, plenty loud, and they feel well put together.

more bang for the buck sound rivaling full professional PA system
After about 5 years owning a Yamaha Stagepas 300 PA system, one of the bass speakers cracked–not from abuse, but because the paper had become brittle. It was discovered there is no replacement available for this 6-ohm speaker. I tried to repair the crack with several methods, but the cracked progressed due to the brittle paper.I researched several days to try to find a suitable and affordable replacement without sacrificing quality. The ones in which I was interested were too expensive. The system was mainly used at home, with rare exceptions to entertain at parties for pleasure. Not wanting to spend much for what was essentially an indulgent hobby, I decided to research systems intended for computers as an alternative. When I came across this Klipsch system, I did intense research to see if this might be a suitable replacement. I was very familiar with Klipsch performance and reputation, being raised about 40 miles from their manufacturing in Hope, Arkansas. One friend from over 30 years ago had a set of the Klipsch Heresy home speakers where a kid had kicked a hole in one of the bass speakers, yet the system was still performing with zero distortion. That was the defining moment for me knowing the Klipsch brand as top-notch.I decided to try this one because of the Klipsch reputation and the fact that it had a higher power rating that the Yamaha PA system at a fraction of the cost. The explanation of how to hook up the system as hard wired wasn’t too clear from the Internet research; I discovered when receiving the system that it had 2 wired options. There was a port on side for 3.5mm female Auxiliary input, and a primary 3.5mm male plug on the end of wire coming from a speaker that would typically plug into the headphone jack of a computer.I needed to connect my older 8-channel keyboard mixer to the system and only had an adapter for the RCA “out-to-tape” jacks that would go into the stereo 3.5mm Auxiliary input. That connection did not incorporate the graphics equalizer on the mixer, so I wasn’t getting the quality for which I knew the system was capable.I had another adapter that would connect the 2 normal 1/4-inch output ports from the mixer to combine into a 3.5mm female connection to the male 3.5mm plug, but that was only a mono connection. I ordered a connection that had the dual 1/4-inch plugs combined into a STEREO female receptacle, and plugged in the primary 3.5mm male plug from the Klipsch system. That finally produced the sound I was expecting from this system because I could graph the sound within the mixing board. With a few tweaks to the graphics equalizer on my mixer, the sound quality produce was incredible. This very affordable computer speaker system out-performed the Yamaha Stagepas 300 (rated at 100 watts) in sound quality hands down. How can so much sound clarity come from such small speakers? My use of the system as a PA system was not what was originally intended, but I’m extremely satisfied with the results. I would strongly suggest anyone wanting to use this Klipsch 2.1 system professionally in a small venue consider this as an inexpensive and very portable alternative. You might have to purchase some poles to elevate the satellite speakers; but with all the savings, spending the additional funds for the poles would still make this more affordable than the conventional PA systems.I’ve put the speakers on top of the Yamaha speakers right now to get the elevation. I’ll search around to see if I can find some suitable poles to give the system portability if I wanted to take it to a party. For now, this is fine for me.The sound quality is truly in keeping with the Klipsch reputation. I haven’t cranked the system to anywhere near the top volume, but the test at about 1/3 volume from my mixer was enough to vibrate the walls. This system is phenomenal to say the least!I’m sure I haven’t used this system to the full capability in the way I have it connected, but I don’t need anything else. As they say in the old commercial “Try it; you’ll like it.”

Very good deal, but…
My Altec Lansing speakers finally died (how come so many reviews start that way?). For the record, a pair of satellites and a subwoofer, Model BX1121, that I bought for about $15 more years ago than I remember. Ah, the good old days, when Altec was putting out great computer speakers at affordable prices. Last week, I finally blew the right speaker.Along came “Amazon Days”, or whatever the name is that some VP’s niece in the Marketing Department came up with, and these “Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black)” went on sale for just over a hundred bucks. Perfect timing. Ordered them very late a couple nights ago. They arrived during supper, and I set them up immediately thereafter.Setup took about ten minutes, even though the “Owner’s Manual” is little more than a few pages of cartoon characters. Probably written by a close relative of the aforementioned niece – and I bet they both went to the same state college, with maybe internships at the George Dubya Bush Library,, which is rumored to be full of half-finished coloring books.Anyways, setup was pretty smooth. Took maybe 10 minutes, tops, from opening the box to cleaning up. These things are a lot heavier than the old’ Altecs. Especially the large subwoofer. And since there are no clear instructions, just make sure you put the cords with the red stripes in the red holes and you should be OK.I only gave these 4 Stars because a) there’s always a better deal somewhere, and b) they are not ‘green’. My rating had nothing to do with the paucity of creativity in the VP’s family.NEGATIVES (in addition to the ‘Owner’s Manual’)1) The packaging is mostly styrofoam and is not enviro-friendly.2) The cardboard box is larger than is needs to be, wasting trees.3) There is no ON/OFF switch. These things are either puggled in and ON, or they’re unplugged and OFF. This is a waste of either electricity or effort, depending on whether one takes the time to unplug them or not when the system is not in use.POSITIVES1) The cords are pretty long. If size matters, you should be good. If it’s only about the angle, then the extra cabling is both a waste of plastic and metal (again, not green) and you will have a rat’s nest behind the components. Over all, probably a positive.2) The 3.5 standard audio jack input connector makes connecting to a laptop or desktop PC a snap. Well, if you hear a snap, you did something wrong, so let’s just say it “makes it easy”. Be aware that this (or an adapter for it) is the ONLY way to output sound to this system.3) These components seem to be solid and well-built. At least on the outside. I did not notice any defects in craftsmanship.4) Inside the carton, everything was packed well and protected by plenty of plastic.5) And now and in closing, my take on the sound quality. I’m going with Excellent at this price point ($100 during the Amazon sale or $149 direct from Klipsch). Remember, I’m going from ancient, albeit beloved, Altec Lansings with 4 watts per satellite and 20 watts total max/peak power to these rascals, with 35 peak watts on the satellites, 130 watts on the subwoofer, and 200-260 max./peak power (the specs and descriptions on Amazon state two different numbers, so I’m guessing a third family member was involved, probably the family techie; Klipsch web site says 260 watts). While the wife was outside watering the garden, I checked this new system out with “Roadhouse Blues” by the Doors, “Running on Empty” by Mr. Jackson Browne, a live version of “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, “No Matter What” by Badfinger, “Hounddog” by the one-of-a-kind Big Mama Thornton, and “Why I Sing the Blues” and “Hummingbird” by the late, great B. B. King. If you don’t know those songs or artists, I feel almost as sorry for you as I do for my retired Altecs. But the Altecs couldn’t help it.The sound on all of these tracks was excellent. I didn’t dare to turn the volume up to even 1/3 power because the wife has excellent hearing and dislikes all of the above songs. I would have been sleeping in the garage tonight. I wouldn’t have minded, but the Klipsch are still experiencing separation anxiety. Even at very low settings on both the laptop and the speaker system, these things put out plenty of noise. Tomorrow, the minute she’s out the door, I shall test the claim of ‘110 decibels’. Not that I’m afraid of her, of course.Recommended. Buy these. Definitely worth a hundred bucks, at least at first blush.

Seems like good quality speakers for non-audiophile ears. Nice build quality to everything and they sound a lot better than my old logitech speakers. Both speakers are interchangeable as your left and right speaker and the controls are removable which can be pretty convenient for setup.I will definitely repeat the complaint that the LED Power indicator is just obnoxiously bright. It’s lit as long as the speaker set is plugged in, no way to turn it off. Forget about it lighting up a bedroom in the dark, I found in uncomfortable just having this LED in the corner of my vision in a fully lit room. If you can go a week without taping over the LED then you have stronger eyes than I do.
