Super cool, fun, and powerful; but benefits from tech knowledge
The more I use my Kinhank X4 retro console, the more I appreciate the device. it is powerful, extremely flexible, highly configurable, and capable of playing games very well. I love the ability to manage multiple game save states and customize the controls. It works with externally-provided hardware; for examples, my really nice 2.4Ghz PC X-box style USB wireless gamepad and a 2.4 Ghz USB wireless mini-keyboard. It is fast enough to be pleasant to use. It emulates… like… many more historical consoles and computers than I’ve heard of! It is very feature-rich, right down to exposing the configuration of individual emulation cores (i.e. game systems) and allowing management of multiple core configurations to suit different games. It supports SSH login for “back-door” access, which has been useful on multiple occasions.There is a serious implication in that latter statement. For a techie like me, this is absolutely golden! I’ve been able to log in via SSH to explore the inner working of the device and and manually fix controller configuration problems. But, if you’re not a techie, this could worry you. It means the device allows you to create configurations (e.g. controller mappings) that largely “break” the device. By “break” I mean that you can lock yourself out of the Retroarch (emulation manager app) in-game menu that you use to do things like exit the game. Once that happens, you have to pretty much unplug the console to quit the game. (Or log in via SSH and kill the game using system commands.) If you’re not super into the Linux operating system (running under the hood) and shell tools, you could find yourself unable to fix accidental problems that are ultimately fixable.Clearly, If I had to fix controller mappings, then I’ve run into complications with using my controllers. I’ve figured out solutions for my gamepad; however, the wireless keyboard is more difficult. I’m not sure whether it’s the console’s fault per se, but the problem is a bit ugly. I want to revisit the Ultima game series on the Commodore 64, which uses the keyboard. But the key mappings (i.e. what character/symbol each key means when you press it) don’t match the keyboard’s labeling when attached to the Commodore 64. So, arrow keys don’t all work right. And when you hold Shift to enter a special symbol (like ! or % or &) you don’t get the symbol you expect. I haven’t figure this one out yet.So here’s the upshot:1. This is super powerful, fun, flexible, capable, and well-equipped2. You’re gonna need a little know-how to make the most of it, or you’re gonna need a little help from somebody.

NO audio out of the box
A poor attempt, no audio out of the box, controllers feel like you are holding air, this system needs a lot of work to be an enjoyable experience, too much trouble shooting and not enough time spent playing the games I returned for a refund and recommend looking at others I would not purchase this item if you are truly looking for a plug and play experience.

Decent system, but get new controllers
What a great way to store old favorites on modern hardware!So far, the system seems pretty decent. Pretty good selection of emulators built in and a couple of ways to add more. I haven’t tried every game yet, but most of the games I’ve tried have worked really well. Only one game so far has not run as expected, and I think it’s a controller mapping issue, rather than an emulator issue.The included controllers are not very good, though. The work, but they are not comfortable to use for extended periods, so I’d recommend replacing them with something better straightaway.
