Got this for a NES emulator system
I bought these to replace the rectangle paddles that go with my mini Nintendo looking emulator system. I’m writing this on day 1 of the paddle. So, if they mess up, I’ll be back to update. The 1st thing I want to say is that my system is an 8 bit NES system. So, it doesn’t play Super Nintendo games. It does however have a few games that were originally Super Nintendo games. They’ve been converted. And they play pretty good. Except I don’t have the Y, X, or L & R buttons. So, my hope was these paddles would allow me to have those buttons for those games. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I don’t fault these paddles. I think the system just isn’t capable of more than the A & B buttons. What I will say, is that the way these work with the NES emulator, is that Y & X become A & B turbo buttons. Just like the original paddles. But the L & R also become B & A buttons. This means I can have Mario run fast with my left pointer finger. There are a lot of examples where this is just plain cool. I can jump with my right pointer finger. Or punch or whatever that button is in any particular game. These paddles feel better in the hand & not just because they are round. They just feel like they are better quality than the ones that came with my $60 system. The buttons are better quality too. So even though I didn’t get the result I wanted, I am super happy with what I got. I imagine a super Nintendo emulator system that take Sega or Atari plug ins, like this, would allow you all the buttons. But I can’t say. I don’t have one of those yet.

Wired incorrectly
These are wired incorrectly. Usually the “Y” button helps you run fast and the “B” button makes you jump, but on these controllers, the “X” and “A” buttons are wired to jump. These are literally the only 9 pin controllers I can find, so I really wanted them to work, but my brain cannot seem to unlearn the way I’ve done it for 35 years, and I kept dying. Super frustrating. It might not bother someone who didn’t grow up playing Mario Bros, but I just can’t.

We bought a box in a mall only to find that one of the controller doesn’t work good. This one fits just right and my 7 years old daughter can play better and not complaining that its not working.
