Best watch owned!
In the past few years, I’ve had Samsung Galaxy watches as my daily wearable. Purchased the Watch6 Classic on release day, August 2023, as I was looking forward to more Google Home integrations. Sadly it still did not live up to my expectations. Fast forward to November 2024 where I started looking into alternatives. I didn’t want to break the bank with some of the Garmin options out there and the Garmin Instinct Solar 2X Tactical felt like it would be the right fit for me. After watching walk-through videos on YouTube and reading additional online articles, I decided to checkout. Yea, I would be giving up a color display, rotating bezel and other small features, but what I really wanted was longer battery life while still receiving notifications from my day-to-day apps. This watch has convinced me to never look back. Going from having to charge my Watch6 every night to a month on a single charge is game changing for me. Not only does it have great features, but the watch in Coyote Tan looks so good. I’ll most likely have this watch for a while as it did not disappoint!

Amazing Watch – Switched from Apple Watch
I have had an Apple Watch Series 7 along with a few other Apple watches in the past and wanted something that I didn’t have to remember charging but that still had a decent amount of technology and activity tracking. I chose to go with the 2x Solar tactical due to solar recharging, the coyote color, and green torch light. I have had the watch on for a week and even with heavy usage (going through and setting all the features up, playing with the torch, etc.) I still have 13 days of battery life today. I would have more, but I work a facility without much light and it’s winter so I’m not outside a lot. The torch is extremely handy, I have already used it at least 5 or six times now. All of the health features are amazing, and it is very rugged in design without being too big. I will never go to another smart watch, this is the best one I’ve ever had by far.

Perfect Graduation Gift
Purchased for college graduate who is in the science field working on shoreline management, restoration, etc. He loved all the extra features and has found them very useful. He wears it both professionally when in the field in and around water, at the office and also socially. This is a quality brand & I was able to purchase while offering a special reduced price. He is sensitive to tactile and the size, material, etc has not bothered him. He especially likes the notification & gio mapping features, along with the ability to withstand water. Highly recommend and would purchase again.

My wife bought me the original Instinct when they first appeared in 2019. That was an upgrade from another Garmin running watch I had since around 2013. I had used that instinct religiously for running for 5 years. It has helped me keep running/health records and i simply love that. I have been able to monitor my BP,HR,Lbs,and cardio improvements which was a tremendous increase in data from my first Garmin watch. Enter the Instinct 2X solar Tactical. What an awesome updated Instinct! Dramatic amount on increase in data monitored/availability. Now I can drill down into a more detailed sleep profile, heart rate profile, HRV (which i knew nothing about until this watch). The GPS is more accurate due to usage of more GPS systems.If you like gadgets as I, and you like keeping track of personal running/physio data, then you will love this watch. It is friggen awesome. Make sure you buy a little glass screen saver for it initially so the screen will always stay pristine.

Great product, but…
I have been using this watch for over a week. Overall, I am very happy with the product — as expected, good Garmin quality and most of the functions work well (I have not checked the accuracy of the stats it collects, though). The main reasons I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 are as follows:1. Bate-and-switch Applied Ballistics. This is one of the main reasons I bought this watch, but then I discovered in order to get this function, I need to purchase an additional App license — basic function costs $100 and advanced $300! This is really annoying. It seems that the calculations are done on the App not the watch. I almost returned the watch just for this issue, but decided to keep as other features work ok.2. The manual can use a lot of improvement. There is no quick reference guide. If they just wrote a quick reference that documents the principles of button controls, I would have figured out the working of the watch much faster.3. Customizing some functions could be more user-friendly. I created a custom Activity to track Canine Training (my business). I had to call customer support to figure out some features (and I am very technically savvy). The good news is that I was able to reach a good customer support rep.!Once I test the accuracy of their stats such as steps, distance, etc., I may update this review. So far, I recommend this watch!

Excellent Watch
I wear this watch when I’m concerned about damaging my Tactix 7. I switched to a canvas band because the silicone band is was irritating my wrist. Also added a glass screen protector which enhanced the look of the face of the watch. Tracking seems accurate and I love that I get text messages and other notifications on the watch. It has stealth mode and a kill switch to wipe data if needed. I can’t speak to exact battery life but it lasts for days. I really like the fact that the LED torch can bet set to a dim green light. Also tested the night vision functionality and it worked well. I definitely prefer the AMOLED screen and other features of the Tactix but this is a good backup watch. I’ll admit, before the Garmins I never really wore jewelry, and certainly never to bed, but with the sleep and health tracking from the Garmin now I only take it off to shower and otherwise wear the watches 24-7. I even wound up buying an Oura ring for additional health data.

The watch face is large and easy to read in any light. The watch is quite light for it’s size and is very comfortable all day and through the night. The sleep tracker is quite helpful and seems to be very accurate with matching to how I feel when waking up.By far the most useful feature on this watch is the flashlight. I cannot count how many times in the last week I’ve used it, let alone how many times total. It casts a very easy on the eyes light with a strong center and gentle flood that makes navigating in the dark very easy without shocking your eyes.I also love the GPS info as we used it to mark and navigate back to our parking location at the Cold Lake Airshow this past weekend.The compass is excellent for a quick verification of direction and I really enjoyed playing with the barometer during our road trip through the Rocky Mountains.For charging, I may charge it once a month (I’ve owned it for 5 months now) if it needs it. Occasionally I can get it to read as infinite battery life, but even staying in direct sunlight for 5-6 hours a day it doesn’t seem to quite keep up to daily use, but it will comfortably exceed an entire month on a single charge.Overall, this is a great watch and it’ll even tell you the time!

a gimmick on this watch. When I am outside a lot in the sun, this thing will last weeks without charging. The features are everything you would expect from a Garmin watch, and the build quality is second to none. I get a lot of compliments on the colour and the watch itself. Great product and I am very happy I purchased it.
