Still setting up but seems great
I’m still getting this laptop tweaked to where I want it but so far so good. Packaging was solid, it arrived quickly and in good order, and the price was great. I’ve loaded it with my software packages including Office, photo editing, a video editor, Amazing Slowdowner, Apple Music and more and so far so good. I’m having no luck getting iCloud to connect but that may be an Apple thing. One Drive works great. The video editor has no problem. I’m not a gamer but it works well video editing and sound processing.This is not a tablet, no touch screen, and you can’t fold the keyboard behind the screen when I’m at my desk with a Bluetooth keyboard and external monitor, but I knew that. The keyboard feels good, the screen is sharp, clear and vibrant. The laptop feels very solid. It was extremely easy to set up and load with programs, except for iCloud. I’ll probably stuff some more ram in it soon.So far so good.

Small but mighty
This review is for the AOC T8PLUS Mini PC, but somehow the listing was changed to a laptop. This mini PC is equipped with Intel’s Alder Lake N97 CPU, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD hard drive. The PC itself is very small, almost as small as a Raspberry Pi 5 in a case. The drawbacks to a form factor that is this small is that in order to have a sufficient number of usable ports, it will have to have the ports on at least three sides of the case. When you plug everything into it, it looks like a porcupine and becomes a wiring mess. However, the only required plugs into this PC are a monitor and power, the rest can be USB adapters for a wireless mouse and keyboard. The bottom is elevated by a small circular vent, a rather ingenious way to efficiently cool the PC.Intel’s Alder Lake N97 clocks in at a very respectable 5846 PassMark score for CPUs. This CPU has only a 15 watt TDP power draw, suitable laptops to save on power. Combined with a speedy 16G of DDR5 RAM, performance is very good for such a small computer. The RAM is not upgradable since it is soldered into the motherboard, but the 512 TB M.2 drive can be upgraded to 4 TB. Due to the small size, disassembly is a little tricky, but definitely doable if you take your time. After removing the cover, the fan plate must be removed to expose the drive underneath.The PC comes with Windows 11 Home Edition. Ace Magician, the manufacturer, recently came under scrutiny for packaging malware with its Windows packages, but this has been cleaned up. There is no extra bloatware installed in this image, I checked for malware using 2 different scanners, and it was clean.I used User Benchmark to test this PC, and it reported in at 47th percentile of all PCs with the same hardware specs. The Intel UHD graphics showed poor performance, not surprising in a mini PC with no discrete graphics. The built-in Micron memory also clocked in at middling 40th percentile. Not great scores, but still very respectable for a mini PC. Compared to a Raspberry Pi 5, it blows the doors off the Raspberry.In a real-world test, performance is very good. Everything is very snappy, and there is no lag whenever an app is launched or browsing with 20 tabs open at the same time. Streaming videos is smooth, with no dropped frames, clear with good frame rates. This is not a gaming PC, but for some of the older games like Duke Nukem, Doom, Quake, and emulation software like Batocera, everything runs very well and is very playable. The biggest limitation is the smaller size of the hard drive, since it cannot hold enough of the ROMs needed for game emulation.Overall, I think this is a brilliant mini PC. It is almost unbelievable how small it is for the amount of power it has. I can see this being turned into a NAS because of the powerful CPU, or even dedicated retro gaming machine that can be VESA mounted behind a monitor. If you need a small by powerful computer, put this on your short list.

Broken Key
The computer seems to work fine, but the power key cap has broken off completely. Now I have to find a way to replace it.

Integrated graphics holds this back immensely
Everything about this laptop is great, except the integrated graphics makes playing any *newer* AAA game a pipe dream, also makes for a terrible VR experience. Likely will return and save up for something with an actual dedicated graphics card.
