Players earn stars for huge jumps, cool tricks and daring feats at high speed. Six players can race online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in both Excite Race and Poker Race modes. If friends can’t join online, players can exchange ghost data via WiiConnect24 and challenge their friends to outdo their most daring tricks.

A “poor man’s mario Kart” that’s superior to it’s idol
This is a game that every Wii owner should have.In a lot of ways, it’s what I’d consider a “poor man’s Mario Kart”: it’s got crazy cartoon racing, lots of opportunities to screw up or battle your friends and opponents, and a lot of over the top action, it just doesn’t have the name value of it’s big brother. However, this one offers a lot of advantages over it’s more famous competitor.Price: This game costs less than $10. You can’t beat that, especially when Mario Kart hasn’t come down from it’s $50 price tag, even two years after it’s release.Controls: Where Mario Kart was a little sticky on the controls, and not very forgiving for average to beginning players, Excitebots is perfectly good for beginners and young children. Moving the bots is pretty simple, and the controls are highly responsive, and even if you stink, the game is very forgiving following multiple crashes.Variety: Mario Kart is going to trump this game in terms of variety of Karts (most of the Excitebots “cars” are pretty much exactly the same), Excitebots blows Mario out of the water in terms of what you can do while racing. You’ll get powerups in much the same way, but you can also play a tambourine, make sandwiches, collect rings, hit bowling pins, and more. It’s fun to try and figure out how best to handle these minigames, and it’s one of the only games where you’ll ever kick a field goal while trying to play a song in the middle of a race.Bonuses: Like many Wii games, you have a lot to unlock. This is both good and bad. It’s good for replay value, but it does limit your options if you don’t play it regularly on single player mode. I’ve beaten the game on single player mode with the regular difficulty, and played many times with others, but I still don’t even have enough stars to have purchased all of the cars. The game balances this with good online play, decent two player (though the game plays split screen vertically, making these races much more difficult), and a few different bonus games which require a lot of precision. If I have any major complaint about the game, it’s that the cars are basically all the same. They have different “ratings”, but you won’t notice much of a difference, though the “Spider” car is very, very good. We actually decided to ban the use of this one, but all the others basically do the exact same thing. Also, on two player mode, you only get the two players cars, which unbalances the bonus for winning the race. These two gripes are pretty minor at the end of the day, and I really think that this is one of the best games out there on the Wii. Tragically underrated.

    Crazy, Frenetic Fun!
I first played this game when a friend brought it over to my place and after about four hours of playing, I had to purchase it for myself! The controls take some getting used to as you need to tilt the Wii remote to steer. This is not your traditional racing game – there are bowling, poker and pie-throwing games that are played WHILE YOU ARE RACING! It is not for the faint-of-heart or the new gamer in your life. Great game – highly recommended!

    Super great game!
I can’t say enough good things about this game!. It’s a ton of fun. The everyday heart of the games just basic driving and tricks are highly enjoyable, but then even beyond that you add in many more fun things you can find to do in the midst of the races for bonus points like flying for butterflies, running, fishing, bowling, etc . It also has a great deal of replayability due to all the many unlocks. Once you complete all the many races in “Excite” mode there’s “Super Excite” then after that “Mirror Excite” is unlocked. Even though it only takes a grade of “B” to pass the races to go on to the next you can also try to get a better “A” grade, or even beyond that a much tougher “S” grade. If you get all “S” you can unlock special skins for the bots used or even all new bots. It’s taken me nearly 2 months of playing almost everyday to get all “S” in the 3 modes of Excite,Super Excite, and Mirror Excite so not a short game and well worth a much more expensive price then the cheap price you actually pay for it. I highly recommend this game!

Why is this game ranked so highly?
This game is kind of a mess. It feels fast and there is definitely a lot of creativity going on, but it also doesn’t feel like I am doing much. Does steering matter? If I’m not paying attention, I stay on the track, if I try to do stunts, I go flying off the track. Where’s the track? Who knows. Just crash and you’ll be back on it, and you’ll somehow fly to first again. The red bars are the worst. If you get the timing down, lucky you. Even if it doesn’t slow you down, it’s such a huge break in the pacing that it’s annoying. I liked excitetruck a lot, for the speed and the stunts, and although this is the same engine, it feels like a different game, and I found it more frustrating than fun. I only paid $7 and wanted to like it. Oh well.

    ExciteNOTS
I was hoping for something to compare with Mario Kart. This title was not it. The unique bots are cool, but going off road seems to not make a difference. YOu can take any path you want and it seems not to affect anything. Just not as fun as I thought it would be.

    Don’t Buy
The game I received looked fine but didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend buying from a company that doesn’t test their games before they sell them.

    son won’t put it down
I got excitbots from amazon a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale for 8$ What a find! My son has a couple of other race games, and they are very enjoyable. But I’ve never seen him this hooked. The fast paced action is way fun. People keep trying to compare it to Mario Cart, but they aren’t even supposed to be the same. This one is a fast and furious pace with minigames and big jumps to keep things exciting. The controls are tight and responsive, which is unusual for a motion control game. My son is only 7 and he plays it very well, and yet it is adult enough that I love it too. Even at a $20-$30 price I would buy it again. But if you can find it for sale, don’t pass it up. Best unknown game out there.

    More fun than Excite Truck
This is a must have for anyone who liked the ExciteTruck game. This version is even more fun, with lots more tricks and challenges. Best of all, the bots are all bugs. My 3 year old loves watching us play. Even though he cannot play himself he loves telling us which bot to use and which color, and he loves all the silly in-game challenges (nice tambourine, pie face, butterfly rescue, etc). You really cannot go wrong with this.

In my opinion, one of the best games ever made. Amazing! And new one, even better. Thank you.

A very good game. Lots of action and things happen that you don’t expect to happen. Need more games like this.

  11. Nash Burt

It’s simple, arcade racer fun. The graphics are good (for wii) and the gameplay is fun. The controls can be frustrating, as tilt is the only option, but it works. There also isn’t much replay ability. Overall, it is definitely worth the low price
