Elgato Prompter & Stream Deck Plus: The Perfect Video Production Duo
As someone who regularly produces technical demonstration videos, I’ve tested a lot of gear to streamline my workflow. The Elgato Prompter, combined with the Elgato Stream Deck Plus, is by far one of the best setups for at-home video production. This dynamic duo makes it incredibly easy to stay on topic, control your recordings, and maintain a professional on-camera presence—whether you’re filming tutorials, live streaming, or even participating in Zoom calls.Elgato Prompter: A Game-Changer for Video ProductionThe Elgato Prompter delivers everything you’d want in a teleprompter, but with added functionality that makes it stand out. The ability to adjust dialogue speed, reverse and forward text, and seamlessly switch between prompter and display mode makes reading scripts effortless. It’s also compact yet highly effective as a secondary monitor, giving you additional flexibility during video production. One of the most underrated benefits of this prompter is its pseudo eye-contact feature for video calls. If you’re frequently in Zoom meetings, having a script or notes displayed directly in front of the camera makes your presentations feel more natural and engaging. This small detail dramatically improves audience connection, whether you’re streaming, presenting, or teaching remotely.Stream Deck Plus: The Ultimate Control CenterPairing the Elgato Stream Deck Plus with the prompter takes production to another level. The customizable buttons allow you to start and stop recordings, switch modes, and control dialogue playback without touching your keyboard or mouse. Having dedicated physical controls for these actions eliminates unnecessary distractions and makes workflow smoother. For those using OBS, the native integrations are flawless, allowing for easy scene switching and transitions while keeping everything running seamlessly. And for Mac users, the compatibility is rock solid—no glitches, no lag, just instant responsiveness.Final Verdict: A Five-Star SetupThe Elgato Prompter and Stream Deck Plus combo is hands-down one of the best investments for anyone serious about video production. Whether you’re a content creator, educator, or someone producing mid-level AV content, this setup makes staying on topic effortless, enhances production quality, and improves audience engagement. The combination of script control, seamless device integration, and multi-functional display features makes this a must-have for at-home creators.⭐ Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended! ⭐

Teleprompter helps tremendously for speaker in a summit!
Great customer service. Original purchase was missing the L-Bracket & screw. New product was immediately replaced and worked perfectly. Easy to connect, software was a tad confusing with the warning or digital sharing, but with an email or two, and a google search of a hub software that needed to be installed, everything worked as intended. Thank you.

Just WOW
It’s an amazing piece of equipment kind of weird to get used to it, and a looooot of issues finding how to place it on my desk but finnaly i made it work, now it’s set up over there and hopefully will not move anymore, it’s not heavy at all but, tend to bend my stands. I guess the thing is kind of huge, so it moves if you have the ball thing with your stand.

Does not work with my setup
I have a canon m50, it’s a small camera. It does not fit the teleprompter and I had to return.

So easy
Not only is this easy to setup, but it’s easy to use. This is the second one I’ve purchased because I love to use them on Zoom calls so that I can look right at the people I’m talking to. The teleprompter software is great as well and the voice sync technology really helps prevent you from needing to buy a clicker or pedal to scroll the text. Huge fan of these teleprompters

Terrible product
It took a lot of configuring for it to even “work” on my mac (my OS is updated). To get it to work I had to install multiple pieces of clunky software. It basically wanted full access to see my screen which seems insane to just use a teleprompter. Once I finally got it working the setting to use my microphone was basically unusable. It would work about 20% of the time. So my talent would ask me to scroll for her. Then I wouldn’t know how much to scroll because what was on my screen doesn’t match what’s on the teleprompter. Just a complete disaster of a product. Immediately returned it. Going to use an ipad app + prompter instead as works much better. I’m a very tech savy user so it’s uncommon for me to have this much trouble. Frustration level 9000 using this product.

Best piece of AV equipment I’ve purchased to date!
Not only is it a teleprompter, it is another display…and I can feed my camera right back into it with the words on top and see myself! Even though this thing needs to be in a 15in size, I’m still giving it a 5!

Set up sucks. Software issues for Mac.
Like so many others, it didn’t connect properly to my Mac. AI Chat couldn’t help me, so I turned to Youtube. Someone mentioned that the cord could be the issue there. So, I swapped it out for an identical style cord, and that other one worked fine. Then, as the youtuber suggested, I could go back and use the original cord. (So strange it needed another cord to make the initial connection. I used my camera’s cord). Macbook Pros don’t have USB anymore, so I needed to use an adaptor. I also installed not just their Camera Hub app but also Display Link. All in all, it was more work than it should’ve been. With the proper hardware and better software support/guidance, it could’ve been a smoother process. Given that these issues are ongoing for so many, I can only think that this company is poorly managed. It is such an easy fix for them.Once I got it working, it performed fine. I don’t like that sometimes it lags just a moment behind me when in voice mode, and thus, I need to pause to wait for it to catch up. But I’ll either get used to it or move to third-party software.I also wish they had a travel case available. It seems easily breakable, and I need to take it with me while traveling. The box seems too big to carry. I’ll need to get creative. It is strange that they did such a good job with the hardware and yet are okay with totally botching the software and user experience.

I’m very pleased with the Teleprompter. It’s very bright. It does not seem to dim the light going into the camera as much as I thought. I use a bright lens (Sigma 10-18mm F2.8 on a Sony EV10 II). I’ve not tried the teleprompter software, but I have other software that I like.It could be a little bit bigger because I sit farther away from it than my other monitors.

Does exactly what it promises, even fits over our professional canon CN lenses. Screen is large enough for usage until about 2 meters distance (for my aging eyes :-)). Only downside I see is that the screen is by default on, even when not needed. But you can easily turn it off.
