Novice Meets Q1
I am a total novice to drones and the Q1 – The system comes packaged very nicely and with easy to follow directions – First off I charged the batteries which took about two hours to complete – As advertised the drone came with two batteries which are said to last 22 minutes each of flight time, the controller, spare drone blades and a small screw driver to remove/install blades – The controller requires 4 AAA batteries which are NOT included – Before even attempting to operate the drone I read and re-read the instructions a number of times – Then it was time to attempt flight – I found the APP in the Google store, downloaded to cell pretty easy – Unfolding the drone wings is easy – Following directions to pair to controller and drone, calibrating the compass and gyro, and obtaining SATs is fairly easy – Flying thee drone goes nicely following the directions I had memorized – I have a great friend who is into drones and we flew ours together – Although his drone was much much more expensive the Q1 held its own against it – The Q1 actually has most all features of the more expensive drone with exception of collision avoidance which Q1 does not have – The battery actually allowed slightly more than 22 mins per battery which was very nice – The camera and video feature is easy to use and surprisingly produces nice images for a low priced unit – The drone weight places it into the category where licensing is not required – All in all a great drone to learn the sport without investing tons of $$$$$

Mixed feelings
First off, I want to say this is a GREAT drone for a first timer. The price point is not too high, it DOES come with 2 rechargeable batteries for the drone unit itself, but you will need some AAA’s for the controller. I personally felt like the drone was a little cheap feeling. The controller also left things lacking and there was a bit of learning curve with this drone unit. I did not fly it too high as I wasn’t comfortable having it over my neighborhood and it certainly could not stand up to the high winds of the area I live in. However, within the safety of my back yard, this did JUST fine scooping out all the little things. Maneuverability was fine, but if you want something that can do cool tricks in the air, this device is probably not it. If you’re looking for something for you kid to crash into a tree, this is probably just fine.

Controller don’t work!
After putting the batteries in the controller it didn’t even turn on as dementrated in the video! The actual drone works but the controller don’t !! I’m so sad as it was packaged sooo nice I had high hopes but unfortunately what a flop ..

Decent for the price but feels very cheaply made
Plastic is very cheap. The arms fold outward but feel like they are going to break when you fold them in any direction. The remote doesn’t feel great and the antennas only flip up so when your phone is there they cant be moved in any direction.did a small test flight and it seemed to do okay.App isnt very intuitive. But also keep in mind this is miles cheaper than anything else out there.I also have a DJI Mini3 pro and as a toy I wouldn’t cry if this crashed.Good for a beginner.Overall though average quality with very average features.

Pretty good drone considering price
For the price, this drone is surprisingly impressive. It’s nearly identical in size to the DJI Mini 2 when compared side by side. The Q1 weighs 226g (with battery), while the DJI Mini 2 comes in at 244g (with battery). The app for the Q1 is clean and functional, without any of the annoying ads or bloatware that plagued other drones I’ve tested, like the F1 Mini. It’s straightforward to use, and the camera quality is decent, offering a solid experience for beginners. The calibration process is simple if you’re familiar with drones. The compass calibration involves spinning the drone horizontally and vertically, and the gyro calibration is just a press of a button followed by a quick 2-second wait. It’s easy to get flying right out of the box. That said, there are a few downsides. The Q1 lacks a bottom sensor for landing and altitude measurement, which is disappointing considering even some cheaper models include this feature. While I didn’t expect obstacle avoidance at this price point, the absence of a basic bottom sensor feels like a missed opportunity.Another downside is the use of micro USB for charging the batteries. In a time when most devices are transitioning to USB-C, it’s frustrating to rely on outdated tech. It wouldn’t have been a significant cost difference to upgrade, but here we are, digging through old cables again. In terms of performance, the Q1 isn’t on par with the DJI Mini 2, but it holds its own for an $80 starter drone. Wind resistance is rated at category 2, which is decent, but it falls short compared to the DJI Mini 2’s category 5 rating. Still, it’s far better than some of the other budget drones I’ve tested. The instructions are well-written and even provide smart tips like flying against the wind initially so that the return flight puts less strain on the battery. More importantly, The instructions get to the point and are written without any noticeable typos or confusing nonsensical writing style. While it’s no DJI, the Q1 is a great starter drone for beginners or anyone looking for a well-built, affordable option. Just don’t expect it to perform like a premium drone, and you’ll likely be satisfied. Clearly you can’t take a $600 drone and expect it to be on par with an $80 one, but I’ll admit, Q1 holds its own respectfully within its category.
