Great little system, but a little small!
Really high build quality and power for the price. Screen is really small,I have to take my glasses off to focus on it properly, lol, but not so small as to be unplayable or anything like that. The bonus being that it looks super sharp and crisp from being so little. Most of the games they include are there for a reason. They should run well. Most things run great up to PS1 and Dreamcast, but some of the emulation can be spotty on certain games, for obvious reasons. Just tiny sound or graphics issues here and there, which isn’t the unit,it’s the actual “game” itself. There’s some really eclectic and amazing stuff too, especially for fans of Japanese retro games! There’s no Nintendo games at all. Stop giving their units bad reviews for that,it’s easy to look up. No current Anbernic unit has Nintendo games by default. If you know anything about games and the industry, the reason for that should be fairly obvious too. The cores are there, and the files as far as I can see,you can watch a YouTube tutorial and find them and put them on yourself if you like. The card it comes with is a single 64 GB black Kioxia (Not the Kioxia Exceria). It perhaps would be a good idea to back up at least the game files if you care about them, and you have card reader and a PC with the space,as the OS is readily available on the Anbernic website so it’s not as important, and cards have been known to fail.No issues with the seller,it was shipped from the Amazon Warehouse very quickly and the unit was brand new and the box in decent shape. You may be able to find it a tiny bit cheaper somewhere else, but you are paying for speed and peace of mind,in my opinion. Fits in your pocket easily and you can’t beat it for the price, but if you have an trouble with eyesight, I’d perhaps spend the few more dollars for a bigger model. But to me the company is one of the best for build quality and usability. They have a big community of fans, most of which have several models,so it’s easy to find help online if you need it.Would recommend it mostly for people that want a small pocketable unit or someone who couldn’t afford much more. You just turn it on and play so it doesn’t take much knowledge or know how unless you want to put your own games on. Also would recommend it for collectors of these, because of course you gotta have them all! Great cute little unit and I love that the colors are always mostly uniform between models. My favorite is the retro grey!

Every old school gamer’s dream come true
I was not sure how this would work but considering how many hours I’ve spent playing games on it so far, I can safely say that this is absolutely worth getting. The amount of games it comes with is no joke, and you get versions from around the world which is also fun. I love that I can add a card with additional games of my own but this comes with pretty much all of the ones I love so I’m fine with what’s included. Also, for all of you NES kids, do you remember that moment when you spent all weekend playing a game with your friend and you go to school with the game paused (because you couldn’t save), and then someone unplugged it and you lost your progress? NOW YOU CAN SAVE!!!! Get ready, Bubble Bobble and Battletoads, I am coming for you. This is a small device which I like because it fits in any pocket and if you have really big hands or fingers, you might find the buttons a little tricky but thankfully it works perfectly for me. The one piece of advice I have is to save your game when you’re done for the game, and if you’re going to be away from it for a little while, turn it COMPLETELY off. The battery does run down even with the screen off so you want to be safe. The battery does last a while and you can play it while it charges so I have yet to find any complaints. This is so fun and so worth it and I am reliving my childhood video game happiness through this!

This is a rare miss from Anbernic…all due to the screen…
I have every Anbernic retro handheld in the XX line and this was the last one to get..I regret it and it’s going back unfortunatly and here’s why:The screen. The screen Anbernic chose to use for this device is rotated 90 degrees out of it’s “natural” intended use. What does that mean, you might be asking? Good question. What it means is that Anbernic has had to do some software buggery to get games and interface elements to display “correctly” on the screen (which actually means rotated 90 degrees out of what the screen wants to display). The result is a severly disjointed user interface with some display elements (especially retro arch notifications) betraying Anbernics wizadry and displaying 90 degrees out of what you’re expecting. Those elements are actually displaying correctly for the native orientation of the screen, but that’s 90 degrees out of how you’re looking at it and holding it. To make matters worse, you can’t even use shaders properly because they still will display to the screens native orientation. For example: If you try to apply a CRT filter to make your 8-bit games look more “authentic” to your memeory, what you’ll end up with is an unevenly spaced verticl CRT effect (which isn’t a real thing). CRT scan lines are supposed to be horizontal, not vertical. This applies to all shaders. It’s super screwy and it’s all because of the screen. It’s messed up.Why would they do this? Why not get a screen from a supplier that has one in the orientation needed for the device?Who knows? I’m going to guess it all comes down to $$$.The result? I don’t want it. I really REALLY wanted this device to replace my Miyoo Mini Plus as my EDC (Every Day Carry) handheld. It’s super slick, super pocket friendly and even with my giant hands, it would have been perfect for short stints in the Dr’s Office, or other waiting rooms when you need to kill time. It would never suffice for long play sessions, but that’s not what I wanted it for.Sad. I’ll have to stick with my combination of my Miyoo Mini Plus and Miyoo Mini V4.
