Excellent batteries and charger for Xbox controllers
My family (1 adult and 3 younger gamers) has had multiple versions of the Xbox with wireless controllers for years and I shudder to think how many sets of alkaline batteries we’ve gone through; I should have got something like this years ago.The charger is 4 inches in diameter and power is supplied through a usb-C port. I plugged mine into the front USB port on the Xbox series X, which seems to provide enough power for charging (that port apparently provides power even when the Xbox is off, as the charger lights remain lit). The batteries only fit properly into the charger in one direction- when you’ve got it right, the battery clicks into place. There is a LED ring around each battery which turns orange while charging and green once the battery is full. Very nice.The batteries fit into the controllers snugly but are not difficult to remove. A fully charged battery will show up on the Xbox as partially charged- this is because the rechargeable batteries operate at a lower voltage (2.4V vs 3.0V for 2 AA alkaline batteries), but they last a long time due to the slower voltage drop during discharge and higher capacity (2500 mAh vs. 1700 – 2000 mAh for alkaline). I didn’t do any formal testing, but after a week of playing, our family consensus is that these seem to last significantly longer than a pair of high quality AA batteries. We also didn’t test recharge time, but the claim of 3 hours seems pretty accurate.I really like these batteries and charger. The only thing which might be an improvement is if there was a dimmer or off switch for the LED display on top of the charger, as it can be a bit bright in an otherwise dark room.

I was so tired of having to replace the batteries on my xbox controller so I was in serious need of something like this but I didn’t know how life changing it would be to have this until I started using it. Part of the problem with disposable batteries is that you have to find new ones when the old ones die. I think most of us don’t just have a pile of disposable batteries within reach plus you have to monitor the inventory of them. This has helped me in 2 ways; It has assured that I always have a battery ready to go and it also gives the batteries a home so I know where to look when the battery is dead or about to die. It also has eliminated the need to worry about the amount of batteries I have because you just rotate/swap the batteries. They charge up plenty fast as long as you don’t have it on some old slow USB charger from like 2010. I have mine plugged into a 10 watt usb charger and it works just fine I can continue playing and have another battery ready to go. Especially with 4 batteries, I mean what is the likely hood that 2 controllers will die at the same time? I will say that I am fairly responsive when I am warned that the controller battery is low, I will swap it as soon as I get a window of time to do it. Which with this is simply faster, you know where the batteries are, it is just one battery module. My only gripe here, and the reason I knocked off a star was because when these charge it doesn’t really give you a clear indication that you have it in all the way, it just glows red if it is inserted wrong but glows orange when charging (could be red, im color blind) but it also doesn’t give you a nice click or anything letting you know you have it installed correctly for charging. So far I haven’t had much confusion and they have been charging just fine.Another plus with this, that I didn’t even notice is that there is a USB A port on this so you can even charge your phone or if you have the Xbox branded rechargeable battery that stays in the controller and you plug the controller in to charge. Overall I am happy with this, I just think the charging base needs a little extra thought in how the batteries go in and it could also use a little extra weight so it is better planted if you have 2 batteries out.

Makes life so much easier. No more worrying about a battery wasteland. Holds a charge. Saves time and energy by making him happy that he always has batteries for his controller on hand and extra batteries to spare or for his friends to use whenever they’re here. Good for the environment. What’s not to like!
