UPDATED:I was wrong. when I said “It’s a great hobbyists machine, but I think it’s some distance from being a work workstation yet”. It’s a great workstation, after the BIOS update provided by the Beelink support guys (mentioned in the old review) it’s been absolutely rock solid. It does anything I throw at it. I’m sure there are games that it can’t run and I don’t do video editing, but it runs multiple VM’s at once (A few on Virtual Box and afew on VMWare Workstation, all at once), it runs GNS3 and multiple notes at once it’s not had so much as a slight stutter for anything I’ve made it do. Once I had the BIOS update it was brilliant!It’s brilliant. If there were more I’d buy another one.OLD Review:So far the machine has been very reliable and can run most games that I have without a hitch. That said I don’t play a lot of games. I have had the machine switch off once and the support team are helping me through that (We’re trying to figure out exactly what happend) and I’ve been asked to clear the CMOS using a somewhat unusual three step process and then reinstall windows with the CMOS cleared. I have also found that the machine won’t boot a virtual machine. It just won’t boot the installation media, the VM reaches a certain point and then just stops. The same VM (Oracle VirtualBox) works just fine on other hardware, the same “installation media” (.iso file) works fine on other hardware, just on this little guy VM’s seem to be an issue (Which I’m sure I’ll work with the support team to get working). So, so far it hasn’t been an unbox and use experience, it reminds me a little of the eighties when I got myself an Atari PC and had to get interface cards and whatnot to be able to use various of the functions of the PC. This one seems to have a BIOS package which isn’t yet complete.That said, what it does do it does well and it’s very snappy. I’d happily use a Mini PC instead of the big rig with raid array and graphics card.

Using as My Media PC
A very good computer for the price. I use it as a media PC for a projector, paired with a backlit wireless keyboard and mouse.It handles 4K, 60 Hz video effortlessly, whether streaming from the internet or playing locally stored movies. I did run an Ethernet cable from my modem to the PC. I don’t recall exactly why I wired it, but it was convenient and frees up the modem’s bandwidth for other devices.I’ve also used this PC for more demanding tasks, such as running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and it works great. Now I remember—the Ethernet connection was necessary to handle the data requirements of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Ran great for 2 months, then died.I’ve sent an email to Customer Support, we’ll see what the after sales support experience is like.They responded within a few days, with a long list of things to try… I performed a number of the steps (though their online docs do not match their shipping hardware, so had to figure-out how to disassemble it enough to reach some things)…Now though, they seem to need me to “film” myself resetting the CMOS…so I guess they think me in capable of doing it and need to see me in action to know I’m doing it correctly. Implies they’re going to ask me to record all the other steps they requested as supposed proof I’m doing it right…what a pain!Total BS. I’ve wasted enough time with defective device and defective company… I do not recommend purchasing Beelink products if this is how they treat their customers…their warranty clearly has more limitations than they indicated.Buy something else, from a company that does not make you jump through hoops to get them to stand behind their products.

I have been using (as my main computer) a laptop that has an i7-1260p and 16Gb of RAM, which has very decent performance for regular usage and even for simple video editing, but it was a bit slow for Photo editing (using RAW files), so I decided to look for a more powerful machine.Between a Mac mini (M2), an Intel Ultra 7-155hs based laptop (currently expensive and hard to find), and this AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS based mini PC, I selected this one. I have found on-line comparisons and saw that the Ryzen 7 7840HS performance is neck-to-neck with the Intel Ultra 7-155hs. Both are significantly faster than an M2 when using multi-core, but a M2 Mac mini with 32Gb RAM and 1Tb storage would cost way more than this mini PC. I won’t go into the pros/cons of Windows or Linux vs MacOS in this product review.I like the Beelink design and construction, it has several USB-C (and A) ports, HDMI, DP, 2.5Gb Ethernet, and the best part is that the USB-C ports on the back support video and PD. If your monitor has a USB-C port and supplies power through it (PD) you can power this machine without using the provided power supply, for a very neat desktop. The provided power supply has an innovative connector that works well and saves space. The mini PC also has Wi-Fi 6 built-in which has great coverage and bandwidth and makes the Ethernet usage optional for most use cases.The machine runs quietly (complete silence) normally, and the CPU fan kicks in under heavy load and it is as quiet as a quiet laptop (not noisy like a gaming laptop).I do not play computer games so I cannot evaluate that, but for Photo Editing, this machine is really great. I use mostly ON1 Photo RAW, which has several AI-based features such as Brilliance-AI, NoNoise-AI, etc, and they all run instantaneously on this mini PC, maybe due to the dedicated AI part of the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor.I highly recommend it for photo and video editing, software development, and most other use cases, including SW that uses AI like ON1 Photo RAW, Topaz Photo AI, and several others.

This Mini PC consumes very little power and runs quietly; perfect for school, home office work and software development.The SER4 model is also capable of some light gaming. Xbox 360-era games should run ok at 1080p low/normal settings 30-60fps. If you can stomach 720p 25-30fps low/very low settings then most PS4-era games will be accessible to you. There are some tuning utilities that tweak the power and graphics clock speeds but these really don’t deliver much improvement and in my opinion are not worth bothering with.In general this Mini PC is quite well-optimised out-of-the-box. You might change the graphics frame-buffer size to 3 or 4 GB and tweak some fan settings in the BIOS but that’s about all I would recommend.* The unit I received had a very noisy fan that worsened as the Mini PC warmed up. It was immediately obvious there was something mechanically wrong with it. I got in touch with the seller who provided excellent customer support, organising a replacement part without any fuss. The replacement fan was delivered a couple of days later and was easy to fit. This solved the issue.If you have a problem don’t hesistate to reach out to their customer support using their Seller profile page. Click ‘Ask a Question’, when prompted click ‘An item for sale’, click ‘Others’ and leave a message to the seller. They can take up to 48 hours to respond but in my case I received assistance within 12 hours.
