Great product overall. It’s nice to take out with me and check my alcohol levels if I decide to have a drink or two. Love that it’s super compact and can go on my keys or in a clutch. Seems accurate as well.

I tried mine out the night it came in, and I was very impressed. First of all, it repeatedly measured 0.000% before I had anything to drink (negative controls are important!) After that, when used correctly (waiting at least 20 minutes since your last alcoholic drink, and maybe rinsing your mouth with water, too) it was very repeatable (back to back readings were almost always within .002%) and the values progressed pretty linearly throughout the night, aligning pretty closely with some of the estimate methods that exist. I’ve used novelty grade portable breathalyzers in the past and they were almost entirely useless based on both of these metrics, but this one seems great. It also feels pretty solid and well made, and it is impressively small. I personally wouldn’t keep it on a keychain in my pants pocket, but it’s easy enough to keep on hand one way or another.The Bluetooth function is nice too, and maybe more than anything else, can help you learn over time how different amounts of alcohol impact you in different ways, so that you can always make smart decisions when drinking (at least as far as safe transportation goes).An important note: If you try to take a reading shortly after consuming any alcoholic beverage, you will get a wildly inaccurate reading – this is true of literally all breathalyzers though, as any alcohol in your mouth is going to produce potent vapors compared to what equilibrates from your lungs. I found you can restore a lot of that accuracy faster by rinsing very thoroughly with water, but it is definitely best to just wait. Also, This kind of sensor should ideally be calibrated every 6-12 months, but I saw when researching the product that BACtrack offers the service for a reasonable price ($20) so if you ever begin to doubt the accuracy, it can be corrected pretty easily in the future.

Calibration requirements render this product useless
When I first received mine, I loved having it so I could have the peace of mind that I was safe to drive. However, over time (and not that long either – like a few months), it started to seem less accurate. At first I thought perhaps the drinks were weak at a particular bar and that explained why perhaps I blew a lower number than I thought I would. However, when I put it to the test while I was knowingly absolutely drunk, it showed a .01 reading. If you look deep in the instruction manual, the manufacturer suggests calibrating the unit every 6 months. Well, calibration cost $20 each time plus the hassle of having to ship it to them and wait 2-3 weeks for them to return it to you; only to have to repeat that every few months. Plus, since the calibration seems to slip a little with each use, it gives me no confidence whatsoever in the accuracy of the reading so my feeling is that it is more accurate and reliable to simply count drinks and stick to the one drink per hour rule, etc. If it did not require calibration or even if the calibration could be done easily by me at home, I would say this is a great product. However, I can not endorse it due to the need for such frequent calibration. Useless and could even be dangerous by giving people false low readings and making them think they are safe and legal to drive when they are actually not.

Prodotto corrispondente alla descrizione. Imballo ottimo. Pila AAA necessaria compresa. Corredato di libretto istruzioni non in italiano ma sul sito BacTrack si trova anche in italiano. Piccolo e di ottima portabilità. Volendo anche al portachiavi ma si rischia di graffiare lo schermo. Pare funzionare molto bene. Ottima anche la funzionalità tramite App dedicata gratuita. Il prezzo è un po’ alto ma se ciò serve a salvare la patente ed evitare incidenti la spesa può valerne la pena.

Very poor product. I followed carefully the instructions and this product just doesn’t work. We couldn’t manage to have another reading than ‘ERROR’. Seriously, for that price tag, that’s quite bad.
