Fantastic CPU in an affordable hardware package
This thing has a powerhouse of a mobile CPU with the 7940HS and benchmarks quite well. It is very quiet under load by default, which comes with a reduction in performance, but can be switched into a performance cooling mode which is moderately loud but provides sufficient cooling to provide performance out of this processor that equals laptops at twice the price. The memory can be upgraded, if necessary, up to 40GB. The stock SSD is shockingly fast and provides for an off to genuinely usable boot time of around 5 seconds. ASUS did NOT bottleneck this machine with slow components outside of the CPU. The wireless chip is modern with WIFI 6e standards, but throughput is capped at 1×1, so roughly 150mbit.As a desktop replacement for web browsing, streaming, office tasks, this thing is extremely fast and smooth. The display is 1920×1200, but this works well at the given size and helps make up for the lack of a discrete GPU in most use cases. My biggest complaint is the touchpad clunkiness but this can be rectified with the use of a wireless mouse. The keyboard is okay, won’t break easily, but isn’t the best feeling. The keyboard layout is very acceptable for most tasks. The integrated GPU is surprisingly powerful and can handle more than one would expect, but this isn’t a gaming laptop by any means. Minecraft and other games that are CPU heavy run quite well. This would struggle to run more GPU heavy titles. The physical hardware is cleverly designed, maintaining a rugged feel, but on a budget. On tear down, it is very clear where the cost savings has been. Nothing that is unnecessary is inside this thing and it has quite a lot of open space where more battery could have been added, but likely omitted due to cost. The charger is a proprietary plug, not USB-C, however it can be charged via USB-C, but using the included charger has additional charging benefits. Battery life is great. The charger has a mode to enable protecting the battery if it will remain plugged into the wall for prolonged use.Overall, I can’t find another laptop with this amount of hardware performance, general usability, and responsiveness for anywhere close to this price.

    7940HS at a Budget Price
SO,My last laptop was an HP 7100U that I upgraded to an SSD in early 2020. That made the laptop much faster, and made the battery last about an hour longer as well. I decided to start using that laptop for casual use, like light reading, word editing, and taking school tests where a web-cam is required. This laptop, the ASUS Vivobook 16, with a 7940HS, was the logical upgrade. On sale, at $599, this laptop is essentially a steal. Most other laptop brands will charge you minimum $799 for a PCIE 4.0 drive, and a 7840HS.The problems with this laptop come down to the cooling. The laptop gets very hot in your lap while plugged in, running at max 54W performance. Placing it on a table helps immensely with that. During regular, non-gaming use, the laptop is perfectly capable of cooling itself. Youtube, multiple tabs, Discord, all run well. It is an 8 core 16 threaded beast, that will last years to come. The cons I have with this laptop is that it comes with a 100 Watt barrel charger. Why include a barrel port charger at 100W when the USB C protocol allows 100 Watt charging? A USB C charger would have been helpful. The 16GB of ram is only partially upgradable. 8GB is soldered onto the motherboard, while 8GB is removeable and upgradeable. I would recommended pairing this laptop with a 24GB stick of DDR5 sodimm from Crucial. The SSD doesn’t not have a DRAM cache, and is only slightly faster than a maxed out PCIE 3.0 drive. This drive runs at around 4000 MB random read and write, while the 4.0 standard can be maxed out to 7000 MB a second.Value and price considered, at $600, if you’re willing to deal with a single soDIMM slot, the processor gives massive performance for the price.

    Good allrounder
Laptop perfomrs good , battery last about 10 hours on youtube and and office work , if you do some serius stufff then you will get closer to 6.enormus diference of performance when plugged in , also a 20% performance increase when over a laptop ventilation base. measured in cinebench R23 14.534 and speeds of 2.3mhz vs 16.308, and speed tops at 3.3.advertised speeds are single core and for short durations.screen is really awesome super nice , good colors and more than you need brightnessover all it performs as espected.a couple of defects, Track pad not good at all finger get kind of sticky on it , not a good surface to slide fingers , any whay I always use a external mouse.finger print magnet , it gets dirty really quickly .there is a bit of a gap where you open the lid.

Fine when works but will occasionally not turn on
Good laptop when it works but will at times be next to impossible to turn on. Warning to artists if you are using the wacom movink or a display through usb c despite it being claimed to support display on the website it does not.

    great laptop
The laptop has a great display, it’s very lightweight for the performance, the intergrated gpu is way better than expected.I have installed linux on it though and every distro crashes randomly approx. once a day.If you want to install linux, I recommend waiting a few months for newer drivers. When trying to install windows, it requires some drivers, but no driver from the ASUS website works.

    Very horrendous quality
Dont buy this laptop with the price tag especially you would be better off with any other laptop. The build quality is so bad it feels like complete trash and very cheap plastic. The screen was glitching and the fan noise is also very loud under high load. The keyboard does not have a smooth or nice feel either. Trackpad kept lagging. I replaced this laptop with a Macbook air M3 and it cost me $100 less. I honestly dont understand what they are offering for this $1,199 price tag.

Esta increible, por el monto en que la compre desquita cada peso.

Great laptop, only issue is the Wifi adapter. Wifi 6 is all over the place when it comes to reliability of the connection. You have to manually configure the adapter settings to make it stable and then the internet speed is much lower than it should be. I think the adapter brand they have chosen for this laptop is terrible

I’m genuinely shocked by this laptop. I bought it because of its 7940HS processor and 810H grade materials, but those specs don’t seem to deliver. My old laptop with an i5xxxU processor outperforms this one, despite its slower clock speed of 1.75 GHz compared to this laptop’s 4 GHz base clock. This is even with the Windows performance mode activated. You might think I’m pushing the laptop too hard, but I only installed Microsoft Word. Yet, when trying to delete a line, the screen flickered as if I were running a high-definition video. The sound, marked as “Sonic Master,” is so poor it’s almost unusable, despite updating drivers and tweaking every possible setting. The Wi-Fi is so slow I thought I had switched to dial-up. The screen is fine, but the ports are outdated. Overall, this has been the worst laptop experience I’ve ever had.
