Solid gaming laptop for the cost
Setup was easy and bloatware was relatively light. As others have mentioned, it’s best to uninstall McAfee right away to rely on Windows Defender, then replace Armory Crate with G-Helper (same function, smaller load on the computer). I didn’t see much else for unnecessary addons. The 16GB RAM was a bit disappointing with no option to upgrade, but the blessing is that ASUS designs their laptops in a way that makes it EXTREMELY easy to upgrade RAM + SSD which is why I opted for their brand. Strongly recommend getting 32GB to make for an even better experience. It does make a big difference when gaming or multi tasking. The laptop handles games well and, unlike some gaming laptops, doesn’t sound like a jet taking off under load. It does run pretty warm, so don’t keep it on your lap. Get a lap desk to allow the laptop to breath and protect your legs.

Very solid laptop all around.
I’ve always been a bit of an Asus fan going back to the Core 2 days, and I’ve always liked their gaming laptops going back to the G74SX. I’m extremely pleased with these TUF rigs as well. They might have a little less flair than some of their other offerings such as the Strix series, but I don’t mind that much. I’m kind of take it or leave it when it comes to all the RGB stuff. What I really like about these TUF series rigs are that they do feel quite solid while offering good specs, but don’t cost an arm and a leg. It’s also very easy to do the usual HD and RAM upgrades. Socketed DIMMS do make me happy. The display is really good, surprisingly good, to be honest. Excellent brightness with great color and a wide viewing angle. The CPU is a beast, which is what you expect from the Ryzen chips. The iGPU is a little weak, but that what the dGPU is for. I like the Armory Crate software, but it is very bloaty. I quickly switched over to G-Helper. The battery performance is pretty darn good for general web wandering out video use if you dial things back and turn off the dGPU. And it isn’t horrible with light gaming through the Nvidia chip. It gets pretty toasty when running flat out, but that’s pretty standard for these thinner rigs. However, the system was never uncomfortable to use even with its guts running hot. The fans are loud, but not completely obnoxious. It has a decent selection of ports and the WiFi is great.Which brings me to the downsides of the laptop. The sound is… Well, it’s there. It’s not horrible, but it sure isn’t anything to write home about. Pretty much standard for laptops these days, but I still need to mention it.The one major letdown, and this is no fault of Asus, but a product of Nvidia’s habit of playing games with their GPU labeling. The mobile 4070 kind of sucks, if I’m being honest. It would probably be appropriate to call it a 4060 Ti rather than a 4070. My previous laptop ran a fully juiced mobile 2070 Super. While the RT performance is considerably better on the 4070, the general performance over the older chip is kind of meh. It is better, of course, but it sure doesn’t feel 2 generations better. On the other hand, going with a rig running a 4080 involves a significant upward jump in price. Even moreso with a 4090 rig. If your primary focus is on gaming, I would strongly suggest going with a 4080 rig if you can afford the premium price bump that comes with it. Again, this is no fault of Asus’s. This issue falls entirely in Nvidia’s lap. If you remember the GTX 10 series and the crap they pulled with the GTX 1060 3GB and 6 GB models. The 3 GB model wasn’t just a downgrade in VRAM capacity, the GPU was cut down from the 6GB model. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t have known that without taking the time to compare their specifications line by line, or spent a good bit of time watching benchmark reviews. That’s not to say the 4070 mobile is garbage. It still is a very capable GPU. It just doesn’t feel like an Nvidia XX70 rated GPU. It also would have been nice if they had given it a few extra gigabytes of VRAM. At the time of writing this, it isn’t a deal breaker with the 8 gigs of GDDR6 of VRAM it does have. Unfortunately, the day that 10 or 12 gigs of VRAM become a minimum requirement. Also would have been nice had they given it the extra memory bandwidth that almost always comes with XX70 GPUs instead of the halved bandwidth of the XX50 and XX60 models. All that aside, this really is a great laptop for the price. Built like a tank and very solid feeling, without feeling or looking like a boat anchor. Keyboard with excellent key switches. Good battery life under general use. Fantastic display. Excellent and powerful processor. Solid selection of I/O ports. Pretty good cooling setup. And finally, a very good dGPU that could/should have been much better if Nvidia just would have let it breath a little easier with a bit more memory bandwidth. Definitely can recommend it if a RTX 4080 equipped rig is more than you can or want to spend on a mobile gaming rig.

Great Value
This laptop with the 4070 runs basically every modern game with 60+fps with no problem. The only issue is it tends to run hot but tweaking the fan settings and getting an external fan solves everything. Really happy and would recommend

Good machine
Good machine. Limit wattage to 60-100w in the manual settings in the Armory Crate program in Windows and it resolved all the over heat issues
