Nice pictures – Motion Detection sensitive
We have been wanting to get a camera for our back alley for months ever since our neighbor’s camera caught some dudes checking their truck and our vehicle to see if they were unlocked late at night. No bueno. We do have some vehicle theft in our area – especially with the alley ways being so private. AND – we have 3 teenage boys – one of which I could see trying to sneak out and be naughty… haha! (Just like his momma used to, let’s be real.)I love that this camera was so easy to install – just screw it in and you’re good! The only problem for me was that the bottom of the camera by where it screws into the light bulb thing was preventing it from getting it to insert in order to screw it in. I had to remove the light assembly to basically loosen the inner assembly so that it would come out a little to let the camera screw in. That was a bit annoying. Maybe it was just my light fixture…it IS from 1999.The picture is great – as you can see from my picture – and the night vision is really cool too. I ended up purchasing the cloud feature to save my videos. For some reason I thought there may be a way to insert an SD card or maybe send files via bluetooth to my computer. I wasn’t super excited about paying extra for the cloud service. And honestly I’m not sure if it saves a certain amount of captured videos via the app that you could download if you wanted? The app is incredibly easy to use and like I said, the whole setup is fantastic. I’m still trying to figure out the motion detection – it goes off every time the trees blow around or if my dogs happen to walk along the fence. I saw something about human detection on the app, but I’m not sure how that works. There is a “do not disturb” function, so I can set it to not send me notifications during the day. Also, there’s this “Starlight” function – I think it turns the light on when it detects motion?I promise I’ve had this for probably a month but just haven’t played around with the functions enough. So I’m sure this review is super not as much helpful as it could be. Maybe there’s a YouTube video out there about the specifics? There IS a YouTube video for EVERYTHING…I would recommend it – the price is RIGHT for the features and quality! And it connects to Alexa and Google Home. I connected to both (we also have a Google Nest at our front door), but also haven’t tried that out either and not sure how it would be helpful. AND, it has a siren! I guess if it alerts you there’s motion and you see some very bad people trying to do bad things, you can activate the siren and freak them out. THAT would be FUN!

    Great Security product
Let me preface this review by saying that we have a paid subscription security system installed at our home. However, in order to have coverage on all sides, we would have had to purchase an additional block of 4 more cameras which was ridiculous. So we opted to find a good camera that we can use ourselves. This camera is the answer to that problem. I am very surprised at the quality of the picture that we can see on our mobile devices. I love that we are able to move the camera to the angle that we desire, and that there are options for controlling the light settings, human motion settings and night vision settings. We had a difficult time trying to find out where to use the camera due to the setup of our outdoor home. We did not want to have to turn on several lights to get the camera to work, so we ended up plugging it in with an extension cord and hanging it from one of the eaves of the home. That worked so much better for us.The customer service that we have recieved so far has been very good. We received an email from the maker before we even installed the camera about how to use it and how to work it once we received it. While there are some good articles in the FAQ section, not all of them are accurate, especially when they show a different model than what we have, but still overall it is very good and easy to use.One of the issues that we found was that if we kept the light on at night, it would constantly attract bugs and give us notifications of movement, so we adjusted it to night vision so that the light doesn’t come on at night and we also adjusted the settings to detect human movement. That helped a great deal. You can use a micro SD card with this if you want to. We will most likely do that, but for now, we haven’t used that. And they do have a subscription to their cloud for backup. We have not used that either. For the price and features that this simple camera has, it is definitly an option worth purchasing. So far, we are quite happy with how this functions.

    Works well enough
The LaView 4mp security bulb camera. I have been using it about 3 weeks now and trying out the different features. It was very easy to set up and get started using. I like the fact that you can use a micro SD card for storage and not have to pay for the cloud. I am using the cloud on the free trial basis now and that works just fine but I’m not sure I want to pay for it when the free trial period ends.I use it on my front porch that has a covered overhang, the fixture it is in it’s just a basic outside light with glass covering, I used a 2 inch screw in extension for a light bulb, and the camera area hangs just below the glass. It does a good job tracking motion back-and-forth, sometimes it does miss a car or two going by. I think that must be some sort of a cool down period but I’m not sureI like the fact it takes a still picture of the object, so when you go back to look at what has been going on outside, it’s a little easier to choose what you want to look at in my opinion. When you are looking at playback, you can also, watch it in regular time speed or X2.The night vision works very well. I have been keeping mine in the colored night vision. The human detection does detect humans, but it also detected a bunny rabbit, hopping around in my yard as a human! (lol).Object outline doesn’t work at all for me, when I have tried that feature the tracking for whatever reason goes in the opposite direction. All in all, I think it’s a good product, especially for the price point.

I tried 5 (yes5) other cameras before this and,for some reason had various problems with them all. Wifi signal, connectivity, sound or video quality. This lightbulb camera gives me everything I need. Good connection, wifi signal strength is 78-80 percent and it’s not really close to my modem. There 2 brick walls between them. It has great picture quality and good night vision. Pan and tilt are smooth, zoom is more than adequate. Sound isn’t very loud but this too is adequate.Set-up was a cinch. Simply connect the adapter provided and plug it in close to your modem. Download the app and follow the directions given. Once set-up you can disconnect from the adapter , plug it into any regular lightbulb socket and that’s it.I have this on my back deck and can keep my eye on the dog, watch the birds at the feeder, rabbits playing. At night film the raccoons and skunks etc. that happen bye. I definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The image quality is very good, and the app works well. However, the main issue with this camera is that it cannot distinguish humans from other objects. If you turn on motion detection, it will detect anything that passes by—whether it’s an insect, a leaf, or any other object—and constantly send notifications to your phone. It’s a bit annoying, so that’s something to consider. Other than that, it’s a solid camera.

  7. Stina_peg

I wanted a plug and play option to put at my door way. Basically just plugged this into the wall outlet at home to set it up, (had to download an app), then screwed it into the socket outside. My sockets are recessed and it still works, I contemplated getting a socket extension off amazon for better views, but haven’t yet.The Laview app is free to download, and I have my notifications turned on so everytime it senses movement, I get a notification from the app and I can pull up the snapshot it took or look at the camera to see what’s going on live. It doesn’t record/store video unless you sign up and pay for that, but it does keep the photos of each occasion that it senses movement.I got this so I can get notified of delivery’s when I am not home so for that it does the trick and it was just so EASY to set up. I have only had it during summer/fall, so I am curious to see if it will hold up in -30c. I’ll update my review once I know.
